Mass, Length and `Volume Study Guide

To prepare for the mass and length quiz, make sure you know the information listed below. Study a little bit at a time from your notes, get some help from your friends, and relax – if you prepare, you will do great! J

Vocabulary to Know:

length = meter meter stick

Mass = gram triple beam balance

volume = liter or cubic cm graduated cylinder meniscus

Mass: Fill in the blanks.

·  Know how to use a triple-beam balance to measure mass in grams (g)

·

·  Be able to estimate when you should measure in a particular unit (For example, how do you know when to use grams versus kilograms? Or milligrams versus grams?)

Length:

·  Know how to use a ruler or meter stick to accurately measure length in meters (m), centimeters (cm), and millimeters (mm)

·  Be able to estimate when you should measure in a particular unit (For example, how do you know when to use millimeters or centimeters?)

Volume:

* Know how to measure a regular and an irregular oblect. * 1 mL = 1 cubic cm

* units for solid volume are cubic cm and for liquid mL

Complete all the problems below either in your notebook OR print out the sheets and write on them.
