Mary E. Jaeger Scholarship

Purpose

Let’s be real and honest: college is expensive. After leaving the comfort of high school, going to college can be a bit of a culture shock. Not only are you trying to keep your head above water, you are trying to be involved in everything, meet everyone, and enjoy the experience of being in college! Not to mention, in the back of your mind, you are still trying to figure out how you will even pay for your second semester. Have no fear, the “Mary E. Jaeger Scholarship” is here! This scholarship was created with the purpose to give a well-deserved student a gift; the gift of education. While also alleviating a little bit of the stress of starting a new chapter in life.

Qualifications

Any college bound senior is eligible for this scholarship. The student awarded this scholarship is a student with a strong work ethic, shows perseverance, displays leadership, and positively contributes to the community. The total amount of this scholarship is $1000. For two semesters, the student will be awarded $500 each semester to cover expenses such as books, tuition, etc.. The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average their first semester to be eligible to receive the second $500.

Documentation Requirements

  4. Two Letters of Recommendation
  5. Letters must be from two different teachers and/or coaches that know you well enough to be able to talk about your work ethic and personality.
  6. Essay
  7. Must be a minimum of 800 words over one of the following topics:
  8. How has your education contributed to who you are today?
  9. Describe how you have demonstrated leadership both in and out of school and what leadership means to you.
  10. Why are you a good candidate to receive this award?
  11. Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced who you are.
  12. Who has had the most influence on your life and why? What is one thing that you have learned most from them?
