Yi, Matthew. “Report: Chevron avoided billions; Oil giant denies new charges of abusing foreign tax credits.” San Francisco Chronicle, Sept 13, 2002 pB1.

This article discusses current problems that Chevron is encountering. Apparently Chevron and Texaco before the merger had an arrangement in which they claimed foreign tax credits that they never paid. The professors from the University of Michigan said that they committed about $2 billion worth of fraud. A settlement was reached earlier for a similar infraction. The IRS is investigating.

This article details the merger between Chevron and Texaco being approved. Then it was a deal between the No.2 and No.3 companies in the business. It outlines the $44 billion deal. It discusses what each company had to give up in order for the merger to be approved.

This article discusses how Chevron’s investment in Dynegy has failed because the energy company is not performing as well as CEO David O’Reilly hoped. It also details the relationship between Dynegy and Chevron. It also discusses Chevron’s current place among the oil markets and it’s other difficulties in the oil industry. And how O’Reilly plans on turning the companies misfortunes around through aggressive cost cutting and the search for oil in alternate places. It also says that the company has yet to define itself unlike it’s competitors.

This is an interview with the head of the CES division of Chevron which explores alternative energy sources and develops new technology. It pretty much talks about why Chevron would research this type of technology.
