Please refer to the following for important information pertaining to the Marshall Jevons Fund.

The Marshall Jevons Fund isestablished to make awards of up to $1,000 to support research and academic travel by undergraduate studentsat the University of Virginia in the field of economics. The award can be used to fund research or travel originated by the student or by faculty members in the Department of Economics where the undergraduate recipient assists a faculty member in his or her research. Typical uses of the funds include attending conferences, conducting interviews, acquiring specialized data, and faculty supervised research.

Eligibility

Applications can be submitted by students for their projects; or faculty members within the Department of Economics may apply to hire undergraduate students.

Funding request forms must be submitted at least 1 month in advance of proposed travel/research date(s). A faculty member is eligible to apply for research-related fundingof more than one project, or re-apply for further funding of the original project.

Awards are given at the discretion of the MJF award committee based on the merits of the proposal and the availability of funds. Priority will be given to economics majors over non-majors, students who have not previously received funding from Marshall Jevons over those who have, and according to seniority. Those overseeing the request forms may exercise their discretion to grant a full or partial award.

Undergraduate students at UVa may not work more than a total of 20hrs/wk. Special consideration should be made if an advisee has multiple assignments.
