Market of Taste Invitation & Application

Dear Artisan/ Producer,

Please join us for what is slated to be one of the most exciting events this spring in the Thompson Okanagan! The Slow Food Movement is gaining momentum in our region. It is a lifestyle many have been practicing for years! The success we experienced at our event in April 2013 has prompted us to repeat the Slow Food Market of Taste in 2014.

The Market of Tastewill showcase products that personify the Slow Food mantra –that they are “good, clean, fair,” that they taste good, that they are grown and/or produced cleanly, that the farmer is paid fairly and that they are indicative of our region. The event will bring together artisan producers and wineries to create an impressive marketplace for the consumer. For more information on Slow Food in our region, please visit the web site

The Market of Taste, will take place Sunday, May 18th, 2014,on Main street in front of the Watermark Beach Resort from 1pm until 4pm. This location will allow us to create a “street market” that guests will stroll through, tasting and purchasing.Just inside the Watermark Beach Resort’s doors will be a Wine Garden with tastings from various wineries for guests to enjoy. Wine Garden hours will be from 3 pm – 6 pm.

Starting at 7 pm in the Watermark Conference Centre, we will be hosting a Slow Food dinner, featuring food and wine stations showcasing Okanagan Chefs, Wineries and product. Dinner tickets are $75per person. This is a fundraiser for our Slow Food activities throughout the year. We have a number of regional Chefs and wineries donating their time – their expertise and their passion.

Watermark Beach Resort is providing Slow Food room rates at $50per person based on double occupancy. If you do intend to stay overnight, we encourage you to book early as it is a long weekend and demand for rooms will be high.

Regional supporters of Slow Food and the general public will be attending. Through media releases, support from the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, the Thompson Shuswap Chef’s collaborative, and the use of social media we anticipate a minimum of 400 – 600 guests will come through the market.
