MarineLab Packing List

Please dress appropriately for school travel when traveling to and from Key Largo. Save beachwear for MarineLab. Students may wear beachwear while at MarineLab – however, please use some discretion.

Remember, we are allowed one piece of carry-on luggage (9 in. x 14 in. x 22 in.) and a backpack(7 in. x 15 in. x 16 in.) This means packing light and carefully. Bags any larger or overweight will require an extra fee.

Toiletries and Personal Items

____Protective sunblock – SPF 30+ – MarineLab has banned oil (absolutely required for every student, every day)

Students are checked for sunscreen daily before going out.*

____Insect repellent – trust me, you need this*

____Toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, soap, etc.), wash cloth

____2 towels (one for shower, one for the boat-please bring thin regular size towels, they dry faster)

____Medication in a baggie with complete instructions – include motion sickness meds, if needed

____Water bottle (required) – MarineLab does not allow disposable water bottles on the campus

____Plastic bags (to get wet items home)

____Camera (waterproof and disposable recommended) remember to put your name on it – many are identical

____Money for lunch on the way to Key Largo and for dinner and breakfast on the way back (other meals provided by

MarineLab) – think about the amount your student eats - $30 - $50 should be more than enough.

____Optional - Money for snacks and souvenirs at the MarineLab shop – please limit to $50

*Students may only take sunscreen and insect repellent in 2.5 oz. containers on the plane.

Providence Middle will provide additional sunscreen and insect repellent for refills.

Clothing

____4 changes of clothing with underwear and socks

____swim wear – although not required, girls might want to consider a one-piece for climbing in and out of the

boat and snorkeling

____old t-shirts for snorkeling – required by MarineLab for sun protection – if you do not bring your own, they

will require that you wear one of theirs

____windbreaker or rain coat – important to have in a cool rain on the boat!

Placing clothing in space saver bags or 2 gallon Ziploc baggies prevents clean clothing from getting wet. It also allows for ‘tighter’ packing.

Equipment

MarineLab provides quality snorkel gear – please do not bring your own
