MARINE ADVISOR COURSE

1. Purpose: This program of instruction fulfills the FMOS training requirements of 0570/0571 that provide a Marine with the knowledge and skills required to be a Foreign Security Force (FSF) Advisor, per MARADMINs 472/14, 683/14, and 636/16. The target audience for the Marine Advisor Course is Sgt to MGySgt/SgtMaj, WO-CWO5, and 1stLt-Col performing a Security Cooperation (SC) mission, in an advisory capacity.

2.Scope: The four-week Marine Advisor Course provides foundational skills in the areas of: Advisor fundamentals, Security Cooperation engagement planning, FSF training management, foreign weapons familiarization, and force protection training to prepare Marines for overseas Security Cooperation advising missions. Through formal instruction and immersive environment scenario training, students learn to analyze, build and establish cross-cultural relationships, negotiate differences, employ interpreters, recognize and mitigate cultural stress, develop and implement training plans, understand USG objectives and plans for an assigned region or country, and conduct individual force protection planning and execution while deployed in partner nations. Students graduate prepared to teach, coach, and advise a Foreign Security Force in order to develop its organizational capability and capacity in accordance with US Government, Service, and FSF objectives. Portions of the course are classified SECRET.

3. Information: Parent commands must ensure their Marines meet all pre-requisites and are properly screened for the MOS. Marines who arrive without meeting the pre-requisites, or who have not been properly screened, will NOT be enrolled in the course.

4. Action: This checklist shall be placed in the file folder for this course, and will remain on file for 2 years, inside the MCSCG Training Instructor Group course files.

5. Note: This Command Screening Checklist must be completed by a SNCO or Officer and be endorsed by a unit commander (Battalion/Squadron level or above Commander).
