MARDI GRAS / FASCHING is here!

Tuesday, March 4th, 2014

Schedule:

Grades K-4

The Mardi Gras/Fasching parade will begin at 2 PM on Tuesday, 3/4/14.

Students do not have to wear uniforms on Fasching/Mardi Gras. Please consider wearing traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold!

Please have students bring costumes (if desired) and put them on for the afternoon – costumes should not be worn all day!

The K-4 classes will proceed in two lines:

Clockwise (C) Line and CounterClockwise (CC) line.

Please have students ready to join their lines at 2 PM!

Classes in the GREEN HALL:

Grade 4 will JOIN the C line.

The lines should slowly pass each other, allowing the children to see each other’s costumes, masks etc.

Each class will make 2 full circuits of the inner hallways. As the class reaches its own room the second time around, it will leave the line and return toclass.

CLOCKWISE LINE

Starting with the French Grade 3 classes, the PURPLE hall line will proceed to the main hall and turn LEFT. As the line passes each classroom, that class will join the line. The C line will go down the purple and green halls, turn in front of the gym, go up the blue and red halls, and turn in front of the cafeteria/auditorium, then turning back into the purple hall.

COUNTERCLOCKWISE LINE

Starting with the French and German Kindergarten classes, the RED hall classes will proceed to the main hall and turn RIGHT. As the line passes each class, that class will join the line. The CC line will move down the red and blue halls, turn in front of the gym, along green and purple halls, pass in front of the cafeteria, and turn back into the red hall for a second “loop.”

* Classroom crafts (masks, noise-makers, etc.) are optional but encouraged. Each class may choose a theme for costumes or masks, if they wish.

* Each class may decide to celebrate in their own room after the parade with snacks, or not – this is a teacher decision.

* Each class may choose to prepare a banner, etc. to announce their part of the line.

* Middle school classes and parents are welcome to be spectators near the gym or cafeteria,or lined up along the hallways walls. Best “photo ops” will be in the open areas near the gym or cafeteria!

Grade 5
