3)  Subcommittees:

Fundraising: Georgina submitted a grant at Dayton’s Lions. Susan submitted a grant from Education Minnesota Organization (EMO); the club will hear in May about funding. Georgina submitted a grant at Brooklyn Park Lions highlighting District 279 students as the audience. Mike M. stated there are two ways to present to Rotary: 1) Commercial—A short presentation at Tuesday breakfast meeting. The next meeting is in 4-6 weeks. 2) Full program—Half hour presentation. It was suggested doing it in July or September since there may be a drop in attendance during the summer.

Grants: Mike suggested applying for the NASA grant highlighting “growth.”

4)  Maple Grove Days: Mike M. stated the application for an outdoor booth is May 1st. It was decided to do a Lego play area for youngsters. Kids would be able to build Lego vehicle and race them down a ramp. There would be no fee; however, a donation jar will be set up. Mike M. can get a tent at a reduced price. Susan still hasn’t heard about the parade. Mike M stated Maple Grove Community Organization (MGCO) is still taking parade applications.

5)  Lego Robotics Summer Camp: Mr. Malm gave a brief summary. He was told to talk to Ron Zopfi whom stated the team should go through City of Maple Grove Parks & Rec. The team was going to work with Parks & Rec. When Mr. Malm tried to book rooms through the school district, he was told that the team had to work with Community Education. There is an agreement where certain camps go through Parks & Rec and others go through Community Ed. Unfortunately the deadline to have the camp advertised through Community Ed has past; however, Community Ed would print and distribute flyers about the camp (part of the cost). Questions about finances came up and should be answered at the meeting schedule for tomorrow (April 15) at 4 pm. Wendy volunteered to meet with Community Ed with Mr. Malm.

6)  Sponsors: Georgina will be contacting Domino’s. They want to be one of the sponsors on the team’s t-shirts. Wendy contacted Malone’s. She will see if we could do a kickoff in September or October. Brothers Meat fundraiser scheduled for July. Grocery bagging at Cub Foods scheduled the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and Dec. 31st. Question whether there would be a possibility of doing pull tabs. Link to information: http://mn.gov/gcb/PDF_Files/LGM%20Chapt%205%20Pull-tabs.pdf

7)  Banquet: Susan will get confirmation for MGSH Cafeteria on May 12th and let Wendy know before Saturday. It will be a potluck. Wendy will get a flyer out to students for their next Monday meeting. Letters will be awarded by Mr. Malm. Mr. Malm didn’t think the team was charged for the cost of the letters. Kyle stated the students are not charged for lettering. Mr. Malm explained how a student letters in Robotics. Programs will include: Letters, Awards, Booster club recruitment & calendar, etc.

8)  Tool cabinet: Susan stated Doug Cook declined helping to build customized tool cabinets (after she showed him the photos and specs Mr. Malm sent her via e-mail) because he stated he didn’t have the proper tools to build it. Mike Schaller made a contact with FRC Team 93, New Apple Corps: http://www.nacteam93.com/?page_id=2734. He stated they may be building new tool cabinets, and may be getting rid of their old cabinets which they may donate to our team. Mike Schaller will send Susan the link to their website where the specs for their tool cabinet will be posted. Susan has another contact who may be able to help. Susan asked whether the high school students in woodshop could build it. Mr. Malm would prefer not to have these students build it since it is a very customized tool cabinet.

9)  Duluth: Subway sandwiches were packaged as foot longs. It would be better to be packaged as 6 inch sandwiches and organized by type (turkey, ham, etc.). Flashlight from smart phones was used as a source of light. Flashlight should be brought along to help distribute the sandwiches.
