ABSTRACT

This paper gives the guidelines for producing your manuscript for the RASD2013 conference. The title, author(s) name and affiliation should be followed by an abstract, an introduction section, and the body of the paper. The paper is concluded with a summary, or conclusions section, and references.

1.INTRODUCTION

The aim of this document is to provide instructions for the preparation of the electronic version of your paper for the 11thInternational Conference onRecent Advances in Structural Dynamics. Follow the instructions below and prepare your paper in a PDF format, and then submit it through the University of Southampton Open Conference System ( 18JANUARY2013.

Please note that at least one registration is required for every paper submission. Please register for the conference at the same time as submitting the paper and not later than 26 April 2013.

2.Title, authors, affiliation

When typing your paper, please follow the order: title, author(s), affiliation(s), keywords, full text and references. The title should be written centred, in 14pt, boldfaceTimes New Roman, all capital letters. It should be single spaced if the title is more than one line. The authors’ name should include the first name, middle initial (optional) and surname. It should be written centred, in 12pt boldface Times New Roman, below the title.

Author's affiliation should be written centred, in 12pt, Times New Roman, below the authors’ name. The presenting author should be indicated by the symbol *.

3.section Headings

The main headings should be written left aligned, in 12pt, boldface and all capital Roman letters. There should be a 12pt space before and 6pt after the main headings.

3.1Secondary headings

Secondary headings should be written left aligned, 12 pt, boldface Roman, with an initial capital for the first word only. There should be a 12pt space before and 6pt after the secondary headings.

4.TEXT

The paper must be written in English, A4, single-spaced and justified paragraphs, with a font size of 12pt, in Times New Roman. The first line of each paragraph - except the first paragraph after each heading - must be indented 0.5 cm. There is no inter-paragraph spacing.

The margins must be formatted to 2.5cm on the sides and bottom and 1.5cm on the top of the paper.

The first page should include the Editorial Heading, as shown in these instructions.

The size of the paper should have a maximum length of 15 pages including figures, tables and references. Please do not insert page numbers.

Although images and figures can be presented in colour in the electronic version of the paper, people may wish to print your paper in black and white. Therefore, please ensure that your paper is legible when printed in black and white.

4.1Keywords

Please write no more than five keywords. They should be written left aligned, in 12pt Times New Roman, and the line must begin with the words Keywords (as shown in these Instructions).

5. FIGURES

All figures should be numbered consecutively and captioned. The caption title should be written centered, in 12pt Times New Roman, below the figure. A 6pt space should separate the figure from the caption, and a 12pt space should separate the upper part of the figure and the bottom of the caption from the surrounding text.

Figure 1. Example of figure

Preferably, figures should be included within the text; but they may also be added at the end of the document.

6.Tables

All tables should be numbered consecutively and captioned. The caption title should be written centred, in 12pt Times New Roman, with upper and lower case letters, below the table. A 6pt space should separate the Table from the caption, and a 12pt space should separate the Table and its caption from the surrounding text.

Title 1 / Title 2 / Title 3
C11 / C12 / C13
C21 / C22 / C23
C31 / C32 / C33
C41 / C42 / C43

Table 1: Example of table.

Preferably, tables should be included in the text; but they may also be added at the end.

7.EQUATIONS

All equations should be written in 12 pt Times New Roman and numbered. They should be centralised, with the equation number right justified. Scalars should be written in lower case italics, and matrices and vectors as bold upper case non-italic and lower case non-italic respectively. There should be a 12pt space above and below the equation

8.REFERENCES

References should be quoted in the text by numbers between brackets, and grouped together atthe end of the extended abstract in numerical order as shown in these instructions [1].Use the following format for references:

Books: initials, surname, title, publisher, place of publication, year. [1]

Journals: initials, surname, title, journal, volume, pages, year. [2]

Proceedings: initials, surname, title of paper, Editors eds. Title, place, date of the Event,Volume of the Proceeding, Pages, year of publication. [3, 4]

Documents online: initials, surname, title of document, address. [5]

9.Conclusions

Prepare your paper in a PDF format, and submit it through the University of Southampton Open Conference System (

Proofread your manuscript carefully. You are responsible for proofreading and correcting your manuscript before submission. There will be no further proofreading once your paper has been reviewed and accepted for publication in the conference proceedings.

All papers will be reviewed. The papers will be returned to the authors for revision on 29MARCH 2013 and the camera-ready final version to be submitted by 26 APRIL2013.
