MANDALUYONG CITY MEDICAL CENTER

PROJECTS / ACTIVITIES PLAN - NEEDS

For the MEDICAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

The Medical ICU has been a specialized support unit to the over-all function of the hospital. Since its opening, the unit has catered to the most critical of all patients needing life-saving measures, roughly a quarter of these patients are of neurologic, another quarter are cardiac, a similar quarter to about a third are pulmonary in nature, and the remaining were of kidney, infectious , hematologic and trauma in nature. Multi-disciplinary sort of care is the run-of-the-mill management in ICU patients, and almost always, availability of the patients’ urgent needs is a pressing concern:

To address these constant expectations, we need the following:

ü  Maintaining a Fully functional physical set-up, including ventilation and safety issues. Currently, the ICU unit needs urgent repair, in particular the safety of its flooring, and the maintenance of its air-conditioning system.

ü  Equipments need a scheduled periodic maintenance.

It is a project worth repeating/ reviving.

Furthermore, to continue its present functions, its accreditation by the Philippine Pediatric Society needs a sustained support.
