TECHNICIAN (REPROGRAPHICS)

JOB DESCRIPTION

GRADE Grade 3 – Points 12-16

WORKING PATTERN 25 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days (8am – 1pm)

RESPONSIBLE TO Learning and Resources Centre Manager

MAIN CONTACTS

The postholder will report to the Head Teacher, Head of Department, Teacher or to the Learning and Resources Centre Manager where relevant. Main contacts of the post are: Head Teacher, teaching staff, other support staff and students.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

·  To work collaboratively with all staff and parents in order to support student well being and to promote the five outcomes of Every Child Matters.

·  To provide technical support to staff and students within the area of reprographics, including preparation and maintenance of resources.

·  To contribute to the development and support of the department and the school through the provision of a reprographics service.

MAIN TASKS – REPROGRAPHICS

·  To manage the work of the reprographics department to provide an efficient service to all faculties within school in a timely manner.

·  To undertake the design and production of leaflets, display work, teaching materials, classroom aids, letters, worksheets, certificates, staff handbook, booklets, exam papers, signs and notices by use of IT equipment including word processing, spreadsheets and desktop publishing.

·  Use a full range of resources equipment, including photocopiers, copy printer, laminator, collator, perforator and guillotine to undertake printing requests from staff.

·  Advise staff on the use of reprographics equipment where required having due regard for copyright and health and safety laws.

·  Maintain records of Faculty expenditure, ensuring that printing requisitions are completed, and calculating amounts chargeable to Faculties

·  Develop and maintain filing systems for storage of master copies of documents, printing requisition forms and related records

·  Ensure that all equipment is fully operational, replacing toner and clearing paper jams as well as ensuring equipment is regularly serviced.

·  Carry out stock control of paper and consumables, ensuring orders are requested in good time. Receive and check deliveries, querying any discrepancies

·  To ensure all printers around the school are regularly stocked with paper and toner

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Training, Qualifications and Experience:

·  Experience of general technical and resource support.

·  Possess an NVQ2 or equivalent qualification or experience in the relevant discipline.

·  Possess good numeracy and literacy skills.

Knowledge/Skills:

·  Possess good understanding of the relevant subject area or an aptitude for learning the relevant aspects of these subjects.

·  Ability to use relevant equipment and resources.

·  Knowledge of the relevant health and safety legislation.

·  Knowledge of copyright legislation

·  Ability to identify own training and development needs and cooperate with the means to address these needs.

·  Ability to relate well to students and adults.

·  Ability to relate well to staff, students, parents and representatives of outside agencies

·  Good literacy and numeric skills to accurately complete and maintain relevant records.

·  Ability to work as a team member as well as to own initiative without direct supervision.

·  Ability to demonstrate effective use of ICT.

·  Willingness to undergo first aid training.

·  Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities.

·  Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
