MCS Fact Sheet

Obligations to MCS

·  Dues = $150 per year or $100 per semester, paid at first rehearsal in September (students = $75 per year or $50 per semester, scholarships available). PLEASE PAY BY CHECK OR CASH IF POSSIBLE!

·  Purchase of music = Cost $35.

·  Assist with selling tickets to concerts.

·  Assist with selling advertisements for program booklet.

·  Serve on committees and volunteer to help where needed - be prompt, bring a pencil, practice at home.

·  Do your best to memorize music according to the assigned schedule. Committing some of our music to memory will enhance the level of communication between choir and conductor, and provide greater interpretive nuance and freedom.

·  Practice and prepare music during the week on your own. Bring a high level of preparation and commitment to each rehearsal.

Concert Dress

MODEST, elegant black concert attire:

·  dress slacks, skirts, dress pants

·  blouse, long sleeved button up dress shirts

·  long dress; top should have sleeves or should be worn with jacket/sweater (no off-the-shoulder, no cleavage, no bare belly)

·  black stockings, black socks, black shoes (no open toed shoes unless wearing black socks / stockings)

·  Tasteful jewelry and bling are encouraged.

Attendance Policy

·  Rehearsals are held Monday nights, 7:00 – 9:15 p.m., at Manchester Community Music School, 2291 Elm St. Manchester, NH.

·  No more than two absences; additional absence approved by the Music Director.

·  Attend a minimum of two sectionals per concert series. Section leaders or a capable designee may lead these sectionals. Sectionals should be at least 1 hour in length preferably not on Monday evenings.

·  Mandatory attendance at dress rehearsals; singers participate in rehearsals only if they plan to sing in concert.

Fundraiser Requirement

Each individual singing member is required to raise, in addition to dues and music fees, $100.00 per singer or $150.00 for families and couples per year. This will be due prior to the final spring concert. This requirement may be met as follows:

1.  Direct payment: either by the singing member or by sponsors of the singing member (sponsorship form to be made available to all singing members). Payments to be submitted to Darah Dal Pra.

2.  Concert ticket sales: fundraising requirement reduced by $25.00 for each set of two tickets sold.

3.  Sale of advertisements for concert programs: fundraising requirement to be reduced by $25.00 for each advertisement sold.

4.  Volunteered time: fundraising requirement to be reduced by $10 per hour volunteered at an MCS event (e.g. volunteering at a fundraising event or volunteering to participate on the stage crew).
