AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the direction of the Director, Transit, provides leadership and guidance to support strategic initiatives within Brampton Transit. Accountable to manage people, resources and provide decision-making that impact programs, processes, policies and practices to meet the Service Plan. Accountable for business planning, financial management, trending, research and fare policy. Provide oversight on divisional budget and financial analysis and reporting. Manages the staff at the four Transit Service Centre locations and the office administration staff.

  • Directs the overall accounting and financial functions of the department, including preparation of the departmental capital and current budget submissions, payroll, invoicing, mileage, credit card administration, analysis and reporting of financial & statistical information.
  • Manage the Brampton Transit Service Centres & Revenue Room by ensuring a high level of customer service excellence, proper financial controls and clear operational processes.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of administrative, payroll and financial functions that improve on business processes and sustain high-levels of customer service for the division.
  • Contribute as a member of the management team in the formulation of philosophy, mission, corporate goals and objectives related to the provision of excellent services and programs.
  • Manage, coach and provide guidance to promote effective employee relations and encourage increased morale, innovation and productivity to meet the goals and objectives.
  • Conduct progressive discipline and performance management reviews with both unionized and non-unionized employees. Maintain a culture of positive labour relations.
  • Provide professional advice and subject matter expertise to strategic business planning, budget exercises, and coordinate internal & external reporting on financial matters while providing insight on long-range forecasting.
  • Monitor and control the budget, ensuring approvals and expenses are consistent with operating objectives to ensure budget compliance.
  • Demonstrate effective fiscal responsibility in addressing cost management challenges.
  • Champion excellence of customer service standards and delivery with key external partners and stakeholder groups.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • University degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance or equivalent;
  • Minimum of Five (5) years experience in Office Administration preferably in a municipal environment;
  • Experience in budget preparation, monitoring and financial analysis;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent understanding of computer hardware and software applications;
  • Project management skills and experience;
  • Good performance and work record;
  • Excellent ability to deal with staff and the public.
