Overall Learning Outcomes / Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
  • Describe changes to industries and organisations
  • Summarise the change process
  • Identify sources of support and resistance to change and devise strategies to promote the change process
  • Develop a plan for change using a strategic approach and appropriate intervention
  • Describe different forms of intervention and the necessary requirements for successful implementation
  • Discuss methods of reviewing the progress of the change process and embedding change within the organisation
  • Apply concepts to your own experience and case studies
  • Demonstrate your ability to work in a team developing your team-working skills
  • Conduct case study research that will identify change issues in a small- or medium-sized business.

Format / There are two sessions per week. The content of these sessions will include lectures, discussions and guest lecturers.

Continuous assessment is group-based. There are two deadlines (mid-February and mid-March). Details will be discussed in class and posted on Blackboard.
A minimum of 35% is required in the final written examination before marks for continuous assessment can be included in the determination of the overall mark for the subject.
There is no facility to complete the continuous assessment individually or during the summer.
