CONTEXT

The Management Accountant works within the Finance Team of Financial & Administrative Services area. Financial and Administrative Services delivers a range of services and high level advice and proactivity in the area of Finance, Office Administration, Commercial Services, Facilities and Payroll.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position supports the system strategic intents of improving learning outcomes for all students and promoting a professional and rewarding working life for teachers.

Key accountabilities are:

·  Development and Preparation of Annual Budget for the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEO)

·  Provide Financial and Management Accounting support and reporting at all levels of CEO

·  Continual development of policies and procedures for Financial Services

·  Provide Support to Finance Manager

·  Provide operational support to Finance Team

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

·  Support of Catholic Ethos

·  Tertiary Qualified Accountant (with a view to Professional membership)

·  Proven knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, practices and procedures

·  Proficient in Excel and other financial management information systems

·  Good communication skills both written and oral

·  Ability to set and meet strict deadlines and work as part of a team

·  Well developed analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills

·  Excellent planning and organisational skills

FUNCTIONS

·  Foster Gospel values and act according to Catholic ethos

·  Continual Design and Enhancement of Management Reporting Tools

·  Development of Annual Budget for CEO

·  Facilitate Quarterly Budget Reviews

·  Review of long term capital works program ensuring its financial sustainability

·  Preparation of 10 Year Financial Plan

·  Management of grant income programs and accountabilities

·  Provide sound financial advice and support to operational managers and support staff on all management accounting issues

·  Preparation of monthly / quarterly / annual financial reports to assist in decision making

·  Perform month-end reconciliation procedures to ensure accuracy of financial data

·  Prepare or review monthly reconciliations of key P&L and Balance Sheet Accounts

·  Compile reports and analyse results, providing ‘value add’ analysis and advice

·  Identify and implement improvements in Finance procedures and policies in order to increase efficiencies whilst still achieving suitable / mitigating financial risks

·  Provide sound financial advice in the budget and administration of Operating Cost Allowance, Equity, Growth and Establishment grants to schools

·  Act as an advocate to operational managers on finance related matters

·  Work effectively with finance staff and provide support/supervision where required

·  Maintain knowledge and understanding of the system of schools priorities and strategic intent

·  Complete other duties as required by the Finance Manager, Team Leader Finance, Director Financial and Administrative Services and the Executive Director of Schools.
