MAKING A MURAL

Find a picture that you would like to draw. It should be colorful, not too complex, and be approximately 3" x 5". Make sure the dimensions (x4) will transfer to a half-size poster board. Begin by marking 1/4 inch intervals along all 4 sides of your picture. Using a straightedge, connect these to make a grid as shown below. You will repeat this procedure, using 1 inch intervals on a half-sheet of poster board. You should trim the poster board as needed to limit the white space around your drawing. MAKE SURE YOUR FINISHED DRAWING IS NO LARGER THAN A 1/2 SHEET OF POSTER BOARD.

To create the mural, carefully draw the lines and curves of each square on your original picture to the corresponding squares on your poster board. Make sure to transfer these ONE SQUARE AT A TIME. Doing more than this will make your drawing less accurate. Once all squares have been re-created, be sure to color your drawing in the same manner as your original. THE GRID MUST BE VISIBLE ON YOUR RE-CREATED DRAWING, as well as on the original. You may wish to add a colorful border to each of the drawings.

Be sure to staple the original drawing to the front, upper left-hand corner of your poster board. Your name should be neatly printed in the front, lower right-hand corner.
