JOB TITLE:Student and Challenge Events Fundraiser

REPORTS TO:Events Manager

Basic Function:

To manage the Student Fundraising programme with Universities, and specifiedchallenge events, to include administration.To assist the Events Manager in the management and growth of Make-A-Wish’s programme of events, runs and challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the student challenge programme by developing and maintaining new and existing relationships with University RAG Societies and university challenge providers
  • Responsible for the administration of Make-A-Wish’s existing and new challenge events programme, so as to maximise participation and income generation from these sources
  • Set up and manage welcome meetings, and attend meetings and information events with RAG Societiesand event organisers to develop relationships when required
  • Attend your own events as well as events, runs and challenges managed by the wider Events Team, as required, most of which may be at weekends and evenings
  • Assist in managing requests for volunteer support by liaising with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising teams to ensure appropriate use and attendance of volunteers at events, runs and challenges
  • Assist with the management of volunteer support at events, runs and challenges
  • Work closely with colleagues in the wider fundraising team to identify and act on potential opportunities
  • Keep up-to-date records on the database – Donorflex
  • Keep track of individual’s fundraising progress and ensure outstanding income is paid in to the charity within agreed timescales
  • Work closely with office volunteers who provide support to the team

Student Challenge Programme Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and develop relationships with RAG Societies to get them to support Make-A-Wish through challenge events, Charity of the Year adoptions and other fundraising. Keep up-to-date with developments and changes in student fundraising
  • Attend RAG Conference and other networking events on behalf of Make-A-Wish
  • Manage the relationship with and support Challenge Leaders promoting Make-A-Wish challenge events within Universities
  • Manage and develop the Make-A-Wish Mega Raid
  • Ensure that students who have signed up for a challenge are supported and are given fundraising plans to help them reach their fundraising targets
  • Help fundraisers to obtain fundraising opportunities and ensure they reach their fundraising targets
  • Manage the Make-A-Wish student social media accounts
  • Continue to grow the Student Fundraising Programme. Research new opportunities for student fundraising including challenge events we could get involved with

Runs & Challenge Events Programme Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to day support to supporters raising funds for Make-A-Wish and respond effectively to challenge event enquiries
  • Be responsible for the process of registering supporters taking part in challenge events on to Donorflex
  • Provide the necessary communication to support challenge participants in their fundraising, including sending out relevant fundraising packs and supporting materials, and newsletters
  • Be responsible for the efficient production of thank you letters/emails to supporters once we have received their donations

General Fundraising Responsibilities:

  • Maximise gift aid income including donations at events and the sponsorship individuals receive for their personal events
  • Understand basic charity laws and apply good fundraising practices and techniques required for different types of events
  • Support other fundraising activities as required and in particular responding to enquiries received by the fundraising department
  • Support Make-A-Wish and its goals at all times
