MAINSTREET SHELBYVILLE INSIDE RENOVATION GRANT APPLICATION

This grant application applies to the downtown historic Shelbyville trade area.

MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF GRANT $5000.00

USES OF FUNDS:

Inside renovation of existing buildings to include upper and lower floors for commercial or non-residential use only.Other uses include the purchase of inside equipment provided the equipment is a permanent part of the building, inside fixtures provided the fixtures are a permanent part of the building, building renovation supplies, building renovation materials and inside lighting provided the lighting is a permanent part of the building. If the inside equipment, inside fixtures and inside lighting are portable in nature i.e. they can be moved from the building then they will be funded up to twenty per cent (20%) of the total cost of the item or items. The Mainstreet board will be the final authority concerning usage of these funds.

NON USAGE of FUNDS

Any illegal, immoral, or unsavory enterprises; financial gain; investment or speculative businesses; real estate investment; gambling-related activities; political or religious activities; refinancing existing debt; accounts payable; purchase of inventory; short term working capital; accounts receivable and routine maintenance of the building. The Mainstreet Shelbyville board will be the final authority concerning non-usage of these funds.

WHAT IS THE GRANT PROCEDURE?

For a business that wants to obtain a grant the applicant must do the following::

  1. Obtain an application from the Mainstreet Shelbyville office, fill it out, and return it to the Mainstreet Shelbyville office along with detailed quotes for the project and supporting documents.
  2. When the application is received along with the detailed quotes and supporting documents, it will be reviewed by a three (3) person Mainstreet Shelbyville committee. If the application and supporting documents are approved by the three (3) person committee, the application and supporting documents will be presented to the eleven member board. If a majority of the eleven (11) member board approves the project, then the applicant will be notified within sixty (60) days or sooner that the grant has been approved.
  3. Funds will be distributed to the applicant after detailed invoices are submitted for the proposed quotes as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between Mainstreet Shelbyville and the Grantee.

Other supporting documents may be required. This project must start within six (6) months of the approval of the application and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Grantor and Grantee.
