Dear Parent/Carer,

Your son/daughter has been invited by the school to take part in elections for Greenwich Young People’s Council. You can find more information about GYPC in the ‘information for young people’ document and at www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/gypc.

They will be supported by School Council staff to write a manifesto which will be uploaded onto the fronter system where students can then vote for 2 representatives.

If your son/daughter is elected they will then be required to commit to attending GYPC meetings. Dates and venues of meetings will be sent with induction packs.

Currently meetings are running once a month and increase to more regular meetings when we are planning for events such as the Y factor conference which takes place late November/Early December.

If your son/daughter is elected we will work with them, with parents, the school and support workers about what support is needed to attend meetings and be fully involved in activities.

If you agree for your son/daughter to take part in the elections please complete and sign the nomination form at the back of the ‘information for young people’ document.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact me on the details above or contact Petrece McLeod or Nick Richards in school.

Kind regards,

Michelle Younger

Senior Project Worker
