Consistent with Article 20.2 of the Collective Agreement, if some or all of the courses assigned to you during your appointment are no longer required due to elimination of the course(s) or section(s) you shall be given three (3) weeks’ notice in writing or pay in lieu of such notice.

COURSE CREATION/COURSE REVISION WORK

Only include the following paragraphs (select the one applicable) if the contract lecturer is carrying out course development/course revision duties during the period of their appointment. Course creation/course revision work is paid in the form of a one-time, lump sum payment and as such is not defined in terms of the number of semester hour equivalents of time it requires. NOTE: process the payment on a Personnel Action Form and include on the PAF “a one-lump sum payment”. It is recommended payment be processed only once the work in question is fully completed. Such work in not to be processed as a non-union casual appointment.

MAJOR ACADEMIC TASK THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE COURSE CREATION/COURSE REVISION WORK

Note: A Contract Lecturer will be paid in terms of the number of semester hour equivalents of time it requires to carry out major duties, such as external liaison on behalf of the University, undertaking a major research project, course coordination and supervision, participating on university wide committees, and any other similar major academic task.

4. In order for the University to initiate your pay, please log into my.ryerson.ca (using your Ryerson’s online identity, see section 5 below), access the University’s eHR portal, Employee Self Service (“Payroll and Compensation” section, “Direct Deposit” link) and provide us with your banking information in order to facilitate direct payroll deposit into your bank account.

Employee Self Service (ESS) is a fast and convenient way for you to access your personal, payroll, and benefits information. You can access ESS via my.ryerson.ca, eHR portal. If you are new to Ryerson, please access ESS and enter any pertinent personal information (e.g., home address, emergency contacts, etc.). If you are a returning Contract Lecturer and your pertinent personal information has changed, please use ESS to enter your new information.

5. Once you receive your employee number, you can activate your Ryerson’s online identity by visiting http://ryerson.ca/accounts. You will use your online identity for accessing many of Ryerson's online services such as e-mail, my.ryerson.ca portal, Ryerson's Administrative Management Self Service (RAMSS), or central computer labs.

E-mail is the official format of communication at Ryerson. You are therefore required to activate a Ryerson e-mail account upon starting your appointment. Once you receive your employee number you can activate your online identity by visiting http://ryerson.ca/accounts. You are expected to access and maintain your e-mail account on a regular basis.

6. Should student enrolment exceed the maximum for your assigned sections, you will be provided with options pursuant to Article 17.4 of the current collective agreement.

7. In accordance with Article 17.1 (h) of the Collective Agreement you are required to submit to the Chair of the department [OR] Director of the School a brief report of activities undertaken to maintain currency using the university’s approved form which can be found at http://ryerson.ca/content/dam/teaching/documents/CUPE_Currency_Report_Template.doc. You are required to submit your currency report by insert the appropriate date depending on their type of appointment: June 1, 201__ (for those with appointments in both Fall and Winter) OR December 15, 201__ (for Fall appointments only) OR May 1, 201__ (for Winter appointments only).

8. Approval of this recommendation by the Board of Governors is conditional upon receipt in my office of official transcripts of your academic qualifications, no later than six weeks from the date of this appointment. Please arrange for such documentation to be issued to this office. This requirement applies only in respect of your original and/or first appointment as ac contract lecturer with the University, unless you have enhanced your academic credential(s) then the requirement stated immediately above shall apply.

9. As per Article 22, effective your start date, Ryerson will provide a comprehensive benefits package including Extended Health Care, Dental, Life Insurance, as well as Accident Insurance, Sick Leave and Salary Protection (Continuation) benefits, provided you are not in receipt of group benefits from another constituent group at Ryerson. 10. 11. You are required to obtain an Employee Photo ID card on the lower ground floor in Jorgenson Hall (JOR 02). You must first obtain an I.D. authorization form from the Human Resources Department.

12. As a condition of employment, if you have not already done so, you are required to complete the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Customer Service Standard eLearning training within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date. To complete the training, you will be required to log in to the Ryerson AODA eLearning Module at http://www.ryerson.ca/accessibility/commitment/aoda-eLearning.html using your Ryerson user ID and password which will be provided to you upon the commencement of your appointment. Should you have already completed the training in light of a previous appointment at the University, you are not required to re-do the training. Please print your Certificate of Completion (found at the end of the training modules) and provide a copy to your Chair/Director within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date.

13. You are required to complete the Workplace Violence Prevention and Response eLearning, if you have not already done so, within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date. Please print your certificate and provide a copy to your Chair/Director within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date.
