Admission to M. Tech. Thermal Engineering approved by AICTE, New Delhi

SESSION: 2009-2010

1. INTRODUCTION

Consequent upon the approval of AICET new Delhi, in pursuance of the decision of the Govt. of Punjab and affiliation by the Punjab Technical University Jalandhar, the BCET Gurdaspur started the admission process from the academic session 2009-2010.

2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A. Master of Technology (M. Tech.) Thermal Engineering

The eligibility criteria for admission to M. Tech. Thermal Engineering regular course is regular B.E./ B. Tech. in Mechanical Engg. / Industrial /Production/Manufacturing/ welding / Metallurgy degree of Punjab Technical University or its equivalent with at least 55% marks in aggregate.

Note:

1.  AMIE / AMIETE / AMACSE graduates including graduates from other Govt. recognized professional bodies equivalent to AMIE with 55% or above marks in their exams in such body may also take admission to M. Tech. with the condition that the branch adopted at graduation level must be same as the specialization applied for.

2.  A valid gate score would be preferred but is not a must for admission to M. Tech. Thermal Engineering

3. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

3.1 PRESCRIBED APPLICATION FORM

Application form to be filled by the candidate desirous of taking admission in the M. Tech. Thermal Engineering regular course approved by AICTE, New Delhi is enclosed in this brochure.

3.2 SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

(a) Each candidate desirous to take admission should send his / her application on the prescribed application form filled in his/ her own handwriting.

(b) Application form complete in all respects should be sent to the Principal, BCET Gurdaspur-143 521, so as to reach him on or before 10th August, 2009 (4:00 p.m.). Completed Application form can also be delivered by hand in the Academic section of BCET Gurdaspur on or before the due date and time.

(c) Application not submitted on the prescribed application form or not in the candidates own handwriting or not supported by the requisite attested photocopies of the documents / certificates or incomplete application in any other manner and received after the due date / time will be rejected. All downloaded application forms must accompany a bank draft of rs. 500/- favoring the principal, BCET Gurdaspur, payable at Gurdaspur.

(d) Application received after the prescribed date and time hall not be entertained under any circumstances. The BCET Gurdaspur does not take any responsibility for any postal delay or loss in transit.

4. SUBMISSION OF CERTIFICATES

Attested photocopies of all certificates in support of the claims made by the candidates must be attached with the application form. The original certificates are required to be produced at the time of Admission

5. SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE

The candidates sponsored for the M. Tech. Thermal Engineering programme by the affiliated College/Institute must submit the sponsorship certificate, without which, the applications of the candidates shall be rejected.

6. NUMBER OF SEATS

The numbers of seats in M. Tech. Thermal Engineering regular course are: 18

7. FEE STRUCTURE

The fee structure for the M. Tech programme will be Rs. 3500/ per subject. The fee is to be paid semester-wise. A non-refundable counselling charges of Rs.2500/ must be paid at the time of seat allotment.

8. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission to the course will be on merit. The decision of the Principal shall be final.

9. DURATION OF COURSE

The duration of M. Tech. Thermal Engineering course shall be a minimum of one and half academic years (Three semesters). The classes and labs will be held from Monday to Friday.

10. GENERAL CONDITIONS

(a) A letter from the Principal/ Director must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to get admission. The Principal / Director should also indicate that the candidate would not be withdrawn mid-way till the completion of the course

(b) There will not be any age restrictions. However, preference shall be given to those who were below 45 years of age.

(c) Admission will be made on the basis of merit of qualifying examinations. Candidates with valid GATE score will be considered first.

11. Attendance during Counselling

Attendance during counselling is essential for all eligible candidates seeking admission to M.Tech Thermal Engineering. Candidate will have to deposit 100% of tuition fees of first semester at the time of counselling along with initial deposit of Rs. 2500/-.

ATTENTION

1. The provisions in this brochure may be changed by the Competent Authority without any notice

2. For any clarification / dispute, the decision of the Principal BCET Gurdaspur shall be final and binding on all concerned.

3. All disputes shall be under the jurisdiction of Gurdaspur Court.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM FOR FULL TIME M.TECH.

The application form with information brochure can be obtained from the College on payment of Rs. 500/- However, if required by post, a bank draft in the name of Principal, BCET,Gurdaspur of Rs. 550/- should be sent to the Accounts Section.

Completely filled application form along with attested copies of certificates should be submitted to Co-ordinator (Academic Affairs) Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur-143521 latest by 10th August 2009 by 4:00 p.m.

  1. At the time of counseling a candidate must produce the following certificate/documents in original before the admission committee.

(a) Certificates and details marks sheet in support of Educational qualification and age from the university/board.

(b) GATE score card

(c) A certificate from the competent authority for the candidates applying against reserved seat.

(d) A character certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.

  1. A candidate selected for admission will be admitted only after he/she produces a medical fitness certificate from the Medical officer of the college.
  2. A candidate selected for admission will be required to deposit the original certificates. Candidates are therefore advised to keep copies of all such certificates with them for their record and use.
  3. The candidates will present themselves for counseling at the specified date, place and time at their own expenses and responsibility.
  4. If a candidate falls to appear before the admission committee with necessary documents and fees etc at the time of his turn for counseling, he/she shall forfeit his/her turn.
  5. A candidate selected for admission will be required to pay the prescribed fees and funds immediately failing which he/she loses right of admission.
  6. The disputes, if any, will be subjected to the jurisdiction of Gurdaspur Court.
