Nurse Manager Consortium
Research Committee / Alison Burrows reported there are 15 new members. MONE currently has 168 active members. The membership has decreased by 62 members since June 30, 2013. Alison will check who has not renewed.
Barbara Jacobs stated our September 19, 2013 guest speaker will be Tiffany Christensen, BFA Duke University Hospital, Patient Advocate. The topic will be “A Bed’s Eye View of Patient and Family Centered Care.” A survey will be given to the members present at this meeting concerning the new meeting site at Turf Valley.
The November 7th program will be in partnership with MHEI. MONE will be the sponsor for this program. In January 2014, Carmela Coyle, from MHA, will speak again. The next MONE poster contest wlll be in April 2014 at our Business Meeting.
Sherry Perkins reported on the Nurse Residency Program. They will have standardized outcome measures throughout Maryland. Sherry Perkins stated 13 hospitals have committed to the RAC Collaborative which began on July 1, 2013. MONE will serve as the lead agency. The MONE Advisory Council will initially meet quarterly then twice a year. Mary Anne Greene was hired as the Program Director for Maryland RAC. Initially, the position will be a 0.5 FTE for 20 hours per week. Anne Arundel Medical Center will provide Irma Holland RN, as a coordinator, to begin the Nurse Residency Program in July. It will cost each hospital about $6,000 annually to participate. Mary Anne Greene, Irma Holland and the other hospital coordinators in RAC were oriented by the UHC Group.
Jody Porter announced that there was $36, 195.00 in the Treasury at the end of July. The room rental cost will be less at Turf Valley than the Doubletree Hotel.
Bonnie DiPetro announced that the next consortium will be at Franklin Square Medical Center on October 25th. There will be 80 participants. Contact hours will be awarded. There will be an “Ignite Presentation” for each of the participants to discuss what they are passionate about for 5 minutes. Bonnie is looking for a new chairperson for the committee.
Debbie Dang requested easels instead of tables for future poster presentations. The MONE Membership Survey showed that the members would like to see all of the posters displayed, not just the prize winners. Joan Warren, the chairperson for the Research Committee, will be asked to join future Board Meeting conference calls.
Meeting adjourned / Next Board meeting will be in November 2013. No date announced.
