The Gap (Canada) Inc. Brampton Distribution Centre (BDC) services Gap’s retail stores across Canada and is one of 10 DC’s Gap Inc. operates across North America.

Originally built for Carlton Cards in 1987, Gap Inc. purchased the 55 acre property and approximately 715,000 square foot facility in 1999 for the launch of Old Navy brand in Canada.

In 2006, Gap consolidated its two Brampton distribution centres into BDC to service Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic brands. In 2008, Gap Inc. added Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Stores to the BDC. The distribution centre currently services all 5 brands to Gap Inc.’s retail stores across Canada.

Inbound products arrive floor loaded in overseas containers from all over the world. This product is manually removed from containers, palletized and moved into a variety of storage locations throughout the building. Using full pallet storage, half pallet storage and single case storage, the facility has the capacity to hold over 7M pieces of clothing and other retail goods.

Product is moved through the facility on almost 6.5 miles of automated conveyor. Approximately 235,000 square feet is dedicated to split case picking, 40,000 square feet to full-case picking, 40,000 square feet to automated tilt-tray sortation and 30,000 square feet to manual pick-to-light. Shipping product is generally floor loaded and directed through pool points across Canada.
