Dear <supervisor's name>,

I would like to attend the 2017 NAEP Annual Meeting on March 26-29 in Reno, Nevada. The conference will enable me to attend a number of educational sessions and workshops that are directly applicable to my job and will help advance our procurement department.

The NAEP Annual Meeting provides access in-person to a network of other higher education procurement professionals from around the country to share best practices and success stories. Many of these individuals come from institutions just like ours so I will be able to implement relevant procurement solutions right away. I am seeking approval for the registration fee and travel expenses to the conference. A detailed cost breakdown is included below.

The ideas, best practices, tools, and business contacts I will gain from this conference will save time and money while putting our department on the leading edge of strategic procurement. In addition to the sessions I attend and information gained, I will have access to the educational handouts after the conference and can share with my colleagues here.

The presentations are facilitated by procurement subject matter experts and relevant keynote speakers who have the insight to discuss the challenges we face and have helped other institutions through similar challenges. The return on investment in attending this conference and learning more about a wide range of higher education procurement topics greatly exceeds the costs associated with us researching the information on each topic individually.
The early bird NAEP member registration fee is $750 and includes almost every meal from Sunday evening through Wednesday afternoon. There are also flights into Reno on Sunday afternoon and departure flights in the early evening on the Wednesday of the conference. Here is the estimated breakdown of conference costs:

Round-trip Airfare: ~$445
Transportation: $50
Hotel: ~$600
Meals: ~$25
Conference Fee: $750

The total costs associated with attending this conference are approximately: ~$1,870

The professional development opportunity for me to grow in procurement knowledge and best practice solutions as well as expand our procurement network makes my attendance at the NAEP 2017 Annual Meeting a wise investment and will yield rich dividends for <name of your organization>.

Sincerely, <insert your name here>
