The 25th Annual Lynn Youth Soccer Memorial Day Weekend Tournament will be held on Friday, May 27th through Monday, May 30th, 2016. This is an open tournament and we welcome all U10 – U19, boys and girls teams from all divisions.
One Location!
All games are played at one location, Hood Park on 186 Holyoke Street in Lynn, MA. Our facility includes restrooms, expanded concession stand, and plenty of parking.
If you have not played at Hood Park in the last few years, the fields are in much better condition than the past.
Schedule:
Each game is 55 minutes (25 minute halves with 5 minute half time). Local teams can be scheduled for Friday night games if preferred. Upon request, we will attempt to schedule teams travelling long distances as late as possible. All U12-U19 playoff games are on Monday. Depending on the number of U10 teams, we do our best to schedule games Friday night through Sunday.
We do our best to accommodate scheduling requests, but please make your requests early. It is very difficult to change a schedule.
Awards:
This is a Team Patch Swapping tournament. Each coach will receive a tournament ball and commemorative tournament patches for their players. U10 is a non-competitive grouping so all teams will receive participation medals, with no playoffs. For U12 - 19, either top 2 teams or top 4 teams in each age bracket group will receive medals, depending on the size of the group.
Sportsmanship Medals: For each game played, teams choose a player from the opposing team who best demonstrates sportsmanship throughout the game. Medals will be provided by the Tournament Committee.
Tournament Fees:
In order to make it easier for coaches, we now accept online credit card payment for registration.

Memorial Day Weekend Tournament
2016 Rules
- PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
- All players, coaches, and referees must be affiliated with their state and county youth soccer organizations, which shall be registered with United States Youth Soccer. Players and coaches may show proof of affiliation/registration by being able to produce the appropriate PICTURE ID card if team is registered with ECYSA. For non-ECYSA teams, players and coaches must show proof of affiliation/registration from their town President or Registrar.
- In order to fill a team roster, players will be allowed to play up a division as long as that player is from the same town/city/county where the opening occurred. Players cannot play down a division. Rosters as submitted to Lynn Youth Soccer with the application will be the final roster, unless the Tournament Committee has approved a change.
- In some organizations, Division 3, full-sided teams are allowed to roster up to a maximum of 20 players. The Tournament Committee has decided to allow these Division 3 Teams to carry their full complement of 20 players. The committee feels that a team is a team and coaches should not have to tell two players they cannot come to this tournament with the rest of the team. It is not fair to the coach but most of all it is not fair to the players.
- In some organizations, U16 & U19 team rosters have been expanded to 24 players. The Tournament Committee has decided to allow this expansion for U16 rosters.
- No player can be registered on more than one team.
- A team must have matching shirts and socks.
- If a team plans to wear alternate uniforms during the tournament, primary and alternate shirt numbers must be provided on their final roster.
- Once a team is registered, their roster cannot be changed.
- The Tournament Committee will rule on all players not officially registered with the team applying for participation, and will be sole authority of these concerns.
- Guest players must provide proof of affiliation/registration per A.a.
- TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION
- All teams are required to have their rosters, ID cards, and player equipment checked at the registration booth at least 30 minutes prior to the start of EVERY tournament game. All players will receive a tournament patch and each coach will receive a game ball.
- The assigned Referee or Tournament Official will inspect player equipment at the registration booth or at the field
- Please Note: Due to MYSA Tournament rules, Medical Release Forms are required for each participating player. Cooperation, in advance is appreciated.
C. TOURNAMENT PLAY
- All USSF Tournament rules apply with the exception of the tie breakers, red cards, and accumulating yellow cards. All tournament games will be played under FIFA rules, and, as modified by the 2016 Essex County Youth Soccer Association (ECYSA) rule book unless otherwise modified in this document.
- All regular games consist of two 25-minute periods with a 5 minute half time between periods. Teams switch ends at the end of the first period.
- All regular games are equal to 3 points. A win scores 3 points. A tie scores 1 point for each team. A loss equals 0 points. There will be a maximum 4 goal differential used between the winner and the loser of a game to determine goals scored for the use in the tie breaker format.
- Final, semi-final, and consolation games will be settled by a ten-minute overtime consisting of two five-minute periods, with teams switching ends at the end of the first 5 minute period. Winner will be determined by first goal scored in overtime. This is also referred to as “sudden death” or “golden goal”. If at the end of the overtime period, the game is tied, shots from the penalty mark will occur to determine a winner.
- Any protest must be made within (15) minutes after the completion of the game, in writing, to the Referee Coordinator or the Tournament Rules Coordinator accompanied by a non-refundable cash fee of $175.
- If any player is given an ejection (RED CARD) by a referee, that player may be directed to leave the complex and may not be allowed to participate in the remainder of the tournament. Final decisions shall rest with the Rules Committee regarding YELLOW CARD frequency and severity and will be kept track of with the possibility they turn into RED CARDS.
- If a coach or spectator is ejected, he/she will be directed to leave the facility for the remainder of the game. Further disciplinary action may be taken at the discretion of the Disciplinary Committee.
- Each coach is expected to control themselves, their players, and spectators. Failure to do so will result in their team being requested to leave the Tournament.
- Coaches must remain within the coaches’ box, which run parallel to the field on the opposite side of the field from the spectators. A maximum of 4-carded coaches are allowed on the sideline. Spectators are to remain on the other side of the field away from the team, behind the spectator line. No spectators will be allowed at either goal line.
- U-10 games will be 6 vs. 6 and U12 games will be 8 v. 8 per ECYSA Rules.
D. TIE BREAKER FORMAT-
- Regular Games
- All games at the end of regulation that are tied will remain tied. At the end of the regular schedule, if any teams in a grouping are tied the following format will be used to determine their ranking:
1stHead to Head competition
