Reporting to: Marketing, Evaluation and Communications Officer & The Creative Producer
Luton’s Creative People and Places Project ‘Revoluton Arts’ are looking for a freelance arts marketer to join the team. Do you have experience in marketing for the arts? Can you create engaging content for social media, write copy for eflyers, websites and press communications? Have experience in creating artwork publicity? Enjoy talking to the public to promote events and activities? Then Revoluton Arts wants to hear from you!
Background Information
Luton is home to one of 21 national Creative People and Places (CPP) programmes funded through Arts Council England to enable more people to engage with and be inspired by the arts.
Research undertaken through the Active People survey, found that just 35% of Luton’s 200,000 population currently engage or participate in cultural activity, placing the town in the bottom 20% of places of least cultural engagement in the UK.
Objective
The ambition of Luton’s CPP three year project is to take our audience on a journey. It will bring accessible arts to audiences who are least/not engaged to stimulate interest and curiosity; it will introduce new art forms to audiences whose experience is narrow or niche to inspire new experiences; and will bring edgy, risk taking arts to audiences who want to have their perceptions and ideas challenged. Through Luton CPP we will support, nurture, encourage and push audiences to explore their own perceptions of art and in turn change minds and hearts.
This is an ambitious plan, and at its heart is a commitment to work in partnership as demonstrated through the Luton’s CPP consortium which for the first time brings together strategic, creative and community partners with a shared vision to enable more of Luton's communities to participate, see, and get involved in great art activity.
Central to the project will be a matrix that will aim to facilitate growth through multiple different routes with which to enter, engage and collaborate with the project. This could be a writer looking to bring their work to a stage, a musician looking to collaborate, an independent artist looking for a mentor. Not only will the matrix create connections it will also be a resource to signpost opportunities, be it training, performance, funding or more.
The ultimate aim of the project is to increase arts engagement. The hope for the legacy of the project is the continued delivery of high quality community lead arts, be it through new arts collaborations created as a result of Luton CPP or through the continuation of Luton CPP in some form.
