Dear Lyn Volz:

On behalf of the Hamilton County Health District, I wish to extend my sincerest thanks to you and your students for their efforts to educate our community about healthy habits such as Covering Your Cough and Washing Your Hands. With your assistance, the Hamilton County General Health District has distributed nearly 14,000 Cover Your Cough posters in our community. These posters will remind Hamilton County residents that there are simple things they can do everyday to prevent the spread of germs that make us and others sick.

You are undoubtedly concerned about the flu and its effects on your students, staff and administrators. And, we recognize that schools play an important role in keeping our community healthy during cold and flu season. I was pleased to hear that many schools have taken this project one step further and have incorporated the messages into their school-based illness prevention programs. Working with your school to spread this message in our community was a natural fit.

Additionally, should our country ever be faced with an influenza pandemic, our community will be better prepared to prevent the spread of the illness because of this campaign and the work of your students and staff.

If you have posters left over, you are welcome to keep them and use them in your classrooms, cafeterias, nurses offices and bathrooms. I also encourage you to continue to share the posters with your community partners. Limited quantities of posters in English and Spanish are still available and you may contact Paula Smith, public affairs specialist, at (513) 946-7808 to request additional copies. Paula can also provide certificates of completion for your students if you have not already received them.

Thank you again for your assistance in this important public health education campaign. A healthy and happy New Year to you and everyone at FINNEYTOWN LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Sincerely,

Tim Ingram,

Hamilton County Health Commissioner
