This adversely affects his/her success in larger instructional settings. He/She benefits from supports and conditions such as adult assistance and prompting, scaffolding the content of the material for a focus on the essential elements of the information, functional vocabulary focus, word lists, redirection, visual/graphic organizers, scaffolding/chunking of larger amounts of information to focus on key ideas/details, the practical use of technology, direct specialized instruction including concrete models, restating/clarifying of directions, positive practice/preview/review of previously learned material, highlighting important information, etc.
