Love your Museum weekend: ‘Leighton’s House Party’

Our experienced tour-guides will be on hand all day to answer your questions about the house and Frederic Leighton. They will also give ‘impromptu’ 5 mins talks on various aspects of the house and collection / Garden open – weather permitting
12 noon – 3pm / Meet the Experts
Find out about our recent restoration and refurbishment project with some of the people that made it happen;the following individuals will be available to talk about their involvement:
Daniel Robbins – Senior Curator (Arab Hall / Drawing Room)
Dante Vanoli – Project Architect (Studio)
Arabella Turner – Ceramics consultant (Dining Room)
Frederique Cifuentes – Project Film-maker (Silk Room)
2pm – 4pm / Andalusian Music Performances
Singer Houria Niati and Spanish guitarist Miguel Moreno bring Moorish Spain to Leighton House with 15 minute musical pieces throughout the afternoon.
Catch them as they alternate around the interiors / Family Art Activities
Artists from the creative company ‘Arty Party’will run fun activities for children in the garden between 2pm-4pm
(wet weather option available)
5pm – 8.30pm / ‘After Hours’
Relax and take in the splendours of the Arab Hall while enjoying some background music.
Visitors can wander freely throughout the house for this special late opening to celebrate ‘Love your Museum’ weekend

Competition: Saturday’s prize will be one of our Iznik ceramic pieces from the ‘Turqart’range sold in our shop. One winner will be drawn from all the mailing list cards completed during the day

Senior Curator, Daniel Robbins will talk about aspects of the reserve collection, not normally accessible to public view. Some of Leighton’s drawings and William De Morgan ceramics will be made available especially. Limited to 20 people per slot (first come, first served on the day) / Family Art Activities
