Jean Beanham

In 1955 Jean Beanham and her husband, Robert, acquired Modak Motorcycles, which was founded in 1930 and is probably the oldest established motorcycle business in Australia.

The company, which specialises in the supply of spare parts for early English motorcycles, enjoys being located in Elizabeth Street, which has been the home of the motorcycle trade for over 100 years and continues to be a hub for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Jean and her son, David, are one of the oldest family businesses operating in the CBD. At 88 years of age, Jean still works five and a half days a week.
