LONG TERM (YEARLY ON GOING) LEARNING TARGETS: (so think about how each unit can uncover a FEW of these …you hit all of them over the year … go deep instead of wide with each unit…then the year is WIDE.) (For Teacher):

Students will be able to generalize, synthesize and apply how the core concepts (government, culture, economic) are different through the world.i.e.:

I can explain how the government of (a place) affects the lives of the people who live there. So… WHAT WILL THEY MAKE TO DEMONSTRATE THIS?

Students will be able to explain and apply how landforms and waterways effect the culture of an area, also how landform and waterways have a direct and indirect effect on conflict and cooperation between an area

Student will be able to apply the FIVE THEMES OF GEOGRAPHY (PLACE. LOCATION, REGIONS, HUMAN ENVIROMENT INTERACTION and MOVEMENT) to any continent or country ( even ones we don’t directly or indirectly ‘explore’

*…… will be an informed citizen of the world because I can describe how the governments of the world interact with each other and explain the cause and effect relationships when either conflict or cooperation arises when interaction is/was happening

*…..explain how landforms and waterways directly or indirectly hinder or help the countries or regions of the world economics, power struggles (past, present or future), government interaction with other governments and either helps isolate a culture or becomes a culture corridor.

*…..understand that all countries economies are different and be ableto compare and contrast them.
