OKLAHOMA CITY –Whitney Glazier of the LomegaFFAChapter earned first-placehonors in the 2018Oklahoma FFA Grain Production Placement Proficiency Award area during the 92nd Oklahoma FFA Convention May 2.

Glazier began working with grain production at a young age, as her family has farmed in both Kingfisher and Blain Counties for several generations. Her knowledge and responsibility have grown throughout the years, and she now preforms soil sampling, operates and calibrates the machinery used in grain production and stores harvested crops, Glazier said.

“Whitney has demonstrated her skills overtime and has willingly accepted additional responsibility that has been placed on her,” said Les Glazier, student employer. “She has proven that she is willing to make a positive impact in our operation through hard work and extra effort.”

Glazier said one of the greatest impacts of her supervised agricultural experiencewas learning the value of hard work, dedication and attention to detail.

The grain production placement proficiency award is designed to recognize students who are involved in a supervised agricultural experience that uses the best management practices available to produce and market crops for grain production. The crops can include corn, barley, millet, buckwheat, oats, grain sorghum, milo, wheat, rice or rye.
