Minutes of Loretto RC Parent Council meeting – 30th April2014

Welcome and Introductions:
Anne Swelcomedall present and noted apologies.
Matters Arising:
Sharon noted that the Minutes did not include the request for a replacement mini-cooker. This amendment was made, and the Minutes were proposed by Audrey and seconded by Kate.
- Playground equipment. Bill had met with the Pupil Council to discuss where funds might be best used. Three areas were noted
- Replace playground toys such as skipping ropes, hula hoops etc
- Boards and paints to create murals for the playground walls
- Larger items such as a fixed table tennis table and more benches
Following some discussion it was decided to spend money as follows:
- Playground toys – up to £250
- Boards and paints for murals – up to £500
- Table tennis table - £1000
- A-Board for advertising in the playground - £30
- Replacement mini-cooker - £55 (subject to checking food prep regulations)
School Update:
Applications for the temporary and permanent PT posts have been received.
Nursery hours will increase next school year and an additional nursery nurse will be recruited on a part time basis.
An inservice day will take place next week – this will be used to review progress wrt the School Action Pan as well as planning for next year.
Treasurer’s Report
John supplied a statement showing a current balance of £5,222. Expected expenditure, other than that already noted, is roughly £1500 on P7 disco and yearbooks, class trips and bookbags, offset by expected income from the Summer Fair.
Fundraising:
- Film Club:planned for 2nd May
- Dress Down Day:April in aid of Eco-Committee. May to be “Bring Chocolate” (for Summer fair). Agreed that June DDD would be in aid of Sick Kids Hospital to support Adam Cusack’s fundraising.
- Summer Fairto be held after Sports Day on 6th June. Planning to sell tickets in advance for Cream Teas (£2). Sharon & Audrey to canvass local businesses for raffle prizes. Sumo and Gladiator games booked.
Eco Committee
Eco week this week. Kayrn P is parent volunteer on eco-committee
ELAPCM
Audrey, Sharon and Karyn to undertake food hygiene training in May. ELAPCM meeting cancelled.

Nice letter received from former P3 pupil Nohlan, now living in Sene in Brittany.
St. David’s Race Night will be held in Loretto Church Hall on 23rd May
