1. Log onto the PC as Administrator.
  2. Run install program. It may take a long time to extract the files. During the extraction some operating system level files may need to be installed. If this happens, just be patient. Once the install program loads, just click all the “Next” buttons to perform the installation.
  3. Make sure the PDA is in the cradle and fully charged. Connect the cradle’s serial cable to the PC.
  4. If the PC is running Windows XP
  5. On the PC run Start\Programs\GT Midwest\Install ActiveSync. This installs the software necessary to transfer the PDA order to the desktop. Once the install is complete, the PDA Connection setup program will start.
  6. On the screen with instructions for connecting the PDA, click “Next”. The PC will attempt to find the PDA. You will probably will see the PDA screen flicker during this process.
  7. Once the PC has found the PDA, a Partnership window will be presented. Make sure the standard partnership is selected and then click “Next”.
  8. Make sure synchronize with this desktop computer is selected and then click “Next”.
  9. Make sure the “Yes” option is selected and then click “Next”.
  10. Uncheck all the potential synchronization options and then click “Next”.
  11. Click “Finish”.
  12. If the PC is running Windows Vista or 7
  13. Open a web browser and search for “Windows Mobile Device Center xx-bit” where xx is either 32 or 64 and matches the operating system. Select the appropriate link to download and install. This installs the software necessary to transfer the PDA order to the desktop. Once the install is complete, the PDA Connection setup program will start.
  14. If the setup program doesn’t start remove the device from the cradle and reinsert it to start the PDA Connection setup.
  15. Click on “Set up your device”. Uncheck all items to sync. Click Next.
  16. Enter a unique name for the device and click Setup.
  17. On the PC run Start\Programs\GT Midwest\Install Visual CE. This installs the order entry software on the PDA.
  18. Click “Next” on the welcome screen
  19. Click “I Agree” and “Next” on the license screen.
  20. Click “Next” on the destination directory screen. You’ll be asked if it’s OK to create the directory. Click “Yes”.
  21. On the PDA the order entry program can be found at Start\Programs. To use F10 to launch order entry program do the following:
  22. Click on “Start” at the top left corner of the screen.
  23. Click on “Settings”.
  24. On the Personal tab click on “Buttons”.
  25. Scroll down to F10.
  26. In the Button Assignment drop down list select “PDAOrders”.
  27. Click “OK” at the top right corner of screen.
  28. Click “X” as the top right corner of screen.
  29. If you are installing on a Windows Vista or 7 PC, change the security on the GT Midwest\PDA Order Entry folder so that normal users will have “Modify” permission.
  30. There will be a “GT Midwest PDA Order Entry” shortcut on the desktop. Double click it to run the order upload program. This will initialize some values necessary for normal operation. Once the program windows appears close it.
