Ethos Statement
At the heart of the Christian faith is the call to love God and to love our neighbour.
Loddington Church of England Primary School’s ethos is firmly grounded in these Christian values which inform all school activity, while respecting and understanding others’ faith, belief and culture as well as those who do not have a faith or belief.
We strongly believe that we must provide a holistic, respectful and child centred experience that allows each and every child to achieve their full potential.
Dear parent/carer
I am writing to you on behalf of the Governors to provide you with an update on a number of key topics.
Firstly and most importantly are the measures the Governors are taking to replace Mrs Walters when she retires in the summer of 2017. Firstly the Governors want to thank Mrs Walters for providing them with the time they need to find a replacement. She was not obliged to submit her notice of retirement until the end of April, by submitting her notice in September she has allowed us to carry out a thorough and diligent review of what is best for the school and to put the mechanics of finding a replacement in place in a timely fashion.
Secondly it goes without saying that it will be very difficult to replace Mrs Walters. She has dedicated the last 11 years of her life to the school, taking it from a small school of under 60 pupils with below average results to a school that is full and frequently has a waiting list while achieving good results for its children. I have no doubt that we will be celebrating her contribution and wishing her well in her retirement later in the year but the Governors would like to record their appreciation and admiration of such an excellent head teacher.
The Governors met in early October and again this week and we now have a very clear recruitment plan and process in place. We discussed in depth, with the deputy CEO of PDET (Peterborough Diocese Education Trust), whether we should replace Mrs Walters with a substantive head teacher (like for like) or look to appoint, with another school (s) an executive head teacher who would be head teacher of both (or more) schools. The Governors have decided that we will be recruiting a substantive head teacher who will be able to focus purely on Loddington School. We came to this conclusion because we feel that the school will be best served by having a head teacher whose sole focus is Loddington School. We were particularly cognisant of the number of children with special needs and the challenges that can bring and firmly believe that having a head teacher whose attentions for half the week were at another school would not serve Loddington best.
The advertisement will be published very soon and the intention is to hold interviews in early February when hopefully we will be able to appoint a new head teacher. The information will be available on the school website and you will see that we are looking for a head teacher whose Primary Purpose will be:
If you have any questions about the process please feel free to email me at
Secondly the Governors are pleased to report that the recent Section 48 (SIAMS) inspection was carried out on the 9th November and the school now awaits the publication of the report. SIAMS inspection focuses on the effect that the Christian ethos of the church school has on the children and young people who attend it.
Finally the Governors would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year.
Barry Hansford
