BostonUniversity cannot accept liability for the injury of participants in the Intramural Sports Program. Team Captains need to make sure that their players are aware of this before being allowed to participate.***

TERRIER CARDS - It will be necessary and mandatory for all members of each team to present a Terrier Card in order to play. No exceptions will be made for participants without their Terrier Card. All cards will be returned once the team’s jerseys are returned to the supervisor on site.
JEWELRY/HATS - NO player will be allowed to wear necklaces, rings, watches, jewelry, earrings, barrettes, hats, etc. Players are not allowed to cover jewelry with tape or “BAND-AID”. **Do not take valuables to Intramural games and leave them unattended. There has been money, jewelry, etc. stolen while persons participate. Intramural Supervisors are not allowed to keep valuables for individuals during the games.
SLIDING – This is a no sliding league. As explained in the rules to follow, sliding is not permitted by any player.
RULES OF THE GAME:
A. NUMBER OF PLAYERS:A team shall consist of four players, 2 males and 2 females. No goalkeepers will be used. A team my start a game with three players. If a team falls below the required minimum of three players for any reason other than injury, that team will forfeit.
B. GAME LENGTH:The game consists of two 5-minute halves (running time). There will be a two (2) minute half-time interval. Teams will play two games during their scheduled game hour. The clock will only stop at the discretion of the referee for an injury.
C. REQUIRED UNIFORMS:Teams must have coordinating shirts. Each player must have a number on the back of his/her shirt. No player is allowed to wear the same number as a teammate. Jersey numbers will be recorded on the score sheet before each game. Players will not be allowed to tape numbers on their shirts, but they may use a permanent marker. BU Intramural Sports will provide numbered jerseys if a team do not have their own. Players must wear regular sneakers. No jeans/boots will be allowed.
D. TIME OUTS: There are no time-outs permitted in Intramural Bubble Soccer.
E. OFFSIDE: There is no offside rule in Intramural Bubble Soccer.
F. SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions may be madewith the consent of the referee. Substitutions are made on the fly.
G. TIE GAMES: Tie games will be decided with the following:
a.One3-minute, golden goal sudden death period.
b.1 on 1 Golden Goal sudden death period with no substitution unless for injury.
H. SLIDING: No sliding tackles are permitted. Sliding is defined as showing no attempt to stay on your feet. You may not play the ball while on the ground at all even if completely by yourself.Sliding also includes leaving your feet to absorb a hit. Sliding will result in a free indirect kick for the other team at the spot of the foul.
I. STOPAGES: Play will stop for the following reasons. Play will resume by the referee placing the ball 3 feet between a player from each team. The referee will blow his whistle to resume play.
a. Ball goes into benches or unplayable area
b. Injury
c. Goal
J. THE BOX: There will be a 6’ H x 14’ W (4’ on each side of the goal) box marked by orange squares in front of the goal. No player from the defending team may enter that box to make a save. Only when the ball is in the box may a defending player attempt to make a play on the ball. However, no attempt to be a “goalie” is allowed. If a defending player intentionally makes a save (up to the discretion of the official), a goal will be awarded to the other team.
K. ILLEGAL HITS: Illegal Hits will result in an indirect kick for the other team at the spot of the foul. If a player is called for three (3) illegal hits, they will be ejected. If a hit is deemed by the referee to be too dangerous, the player may be ejected even if the player has not been called for three illegal hits.
a. Interference: A player cannot hit someone that does not have possession or is in the process of gaining possession of the ball.
b. Boarding: A player cannot hit another player directly into the boards/wall/divider.
c. Hitting From Behind: A player may not hit another player from behind. The player receiving a hit must be able to see the player that is hitting them.
d. Crease Hits: A player may not hit another player in either crease.
L. MERCY RULE: If a team is ahead by 7 goals at any point in the game, the game will immediately end with that team being declared the winner.
