LOCUM SUPPORT WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: LOCUM SUPPORT WORKER

RESPONSIBLE TO: SERVICE MANAGER

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

·  To provide support, advice and information to service users

·  To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing an effective service to the service user group

·  To provide practical, emotional and financial advice to service users using the service

·  To achieve the key outcomes of the service

·  To participate in sessional work and one to one work

KEY TASKS

1  To familiarise yourself with all Rowan Alba’s policies and procedures, and ensure that they are implemented at all times.

2  To provide a holistic support and resettlement service to service users encompassing the following:-

·  Income maximisation;

·  Budget and debt management;

·  Advice/information and support on accessing local community based services;

·  Liason with specialist support services where appropriate;

·  Personal development support.

·  Where appropriate, ensure that service users receive personal care as required

3  To address with service users their support needs and to review progress with Service users at regular intervals within the key working principals.

4  To participate in effective team work and establish good channels of Communication to all local organisations.

5  To work flexible hours with appropriate notice to suit the needs of the service user – this will include weekend working (one day every fortnight) and Public Holiday working.

6  To work professionally and proactively with other agencies involved in the provision of care and support to the service user.

7  To maintain up to date casework files, keep accurate records including statistical information where appropriate

8  To be fully aware of an implement Rowan Alba’s Health and Safety Policies including conducting inspections, reporting concerns and reviewing practices accordingly.

9  To positively promote the work of Rowan Alba to other organisations.

10  To work at other locations as and when required

11  To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required

12  To work flexible hours as appropriate to the needs of the post

13  Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager or Chief Executive of the organisation

Health and Safety

To be aware of and work with Rowan Alba Health and Safety policy at all times and to report any issues of concern.

Services to Tenants

1  To assist, support and advocate for the service user when required in terms of accessing benefits, health care and other forms of care and support.

2  To provide general tenancy support services to enable the service user to successfully maintain and thrive in their tenancy.

Resident Participation and Customer Care

1  To ensure that the service user is able to participate in all areas of service delivery and that all services are accessible and relevant to their needs.

2  To promote tenant participation by providing information, advice and choices to enable individuals to participate more fully in daily decisions relating to them.
