LOCUM SERVICES ROLE DESCRIPTION – Front line service delivery

Hourly Rate will be in accordance with Depaul UK’s current Locum Services hourly rate of pay. January 2015 - £9.68 per hour (Regional), £11.48 per hour (London)

Whilst providing a Locum Service the worker will work under the direction and guidance of the Service Manager

You normally provide the services at Depaul UK premises in the Region in which you were screened.

An Enhanced DBS disclosure is required for any person providing Locum Services, as any shifts covered on an ad-hoc basis, will be directly working with young vulnerable adults.

SUMMARY OF JOB

To provide cover on an ad hoc basis, in the absence of permanent staff, to a range of accommodation Services in the Region.

Your role is to provide quality support to residents and undertake a range of support, housing management and administration duties.

Key Deliverables

  1. Main tasks- Accommodation
  2. To be a temporary member of a team providing accommodation and support for young people.
  3. To ensure a safe and secure environment and to maintain high standards of care and support within the Service.
  4. To ensure the smooth running of the Service, implementing house rules and organisational policies / procedures as required.
  5. To liaise and advocate with outside agencies e.g. Local Authorities, Benefits Agencies, Referral Agencies, neighbours and members of the local community and other statuary and voluntary agencies as appropriate, and to maintain good working relationships and high standards of customer care.
  6. To assist with liaising with the DSS, local authority and other statutory bodies or agencies with particular regard to benefits and appropriate employment/youth training.
  7. To work with all residents and to win their trust and respect, dealing with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive and supportive manner and recording meetings and incidents appropriately.
  8. To ensure all quality assurance policies and procedures are adhered to.

2.Service Delivery - Nightstop

2.1 To maintain an efficient referral, assessment and placement system in order to maximise service potential

2.2To assess the needs of service users through one to one contact and joint working with other agencies.

2.3 To arrange the provision of host accommodation and transport to the accommodation

2.4To ensure that all service users are made to feel welcome and safe

2.5To arrange provision of support services for all service users if these are not already in place

2.6To actively seek service user feedback on the provision of Depaul UK services

3.Service Delivery – Positive Pathways out of Homelessness

3.1To maintain an efficient referral and assessment process, including for self referrals

3.2To assess the needs of service users through one to one contact and joint working with other agencies

3.3To support the delivery of weekly wellbeing and drop-in sessions as scheduled at the project

3.4To sign-post, advocate, and ensure service users gain access to support agencies relevant to their needs

4.Volunteers

4.1 To advise volunteers on health and safety issues and good working practices.

4.2To monitor volunteer practice to ensure that volunteers carry out their duties within the confines of the role and address any deviations from policy and procedure.

4.3To arrange payment of volunteer expenses and allowances.

4.4To ensure that all volunteers are made to feel safe, supported and valued

5.Team work

5.1While on shift, you will work with other members of staff or volunteers. You will be expected to make decisions consistent with those of other Service workers, as agreed by the Service team.

5.2To hand over to the Service worker on duty on the following shift.

5.3To support the Service worker you take over from at the end of their shift.

5.4If required, to participate in regular team meetings as directed.

6.The Building

6.1To ensure that the Service is clean and safe and to encourage the residents to take some responsibility for the cleaning of communal areas and their rooms.

7.Administration

7.1To maintain written records to include the log book, diary, residents’ files and any monitoring information as appropriate.

7.2To ensure that any repairs and maintenance issues are reported and logged in order to ensure the safety and security of the building.

7.3To carry out any other administrative tasks as may be required to ensure the smooth running of the Service.

8.Finance

8.1To collect accommodation charges and service charges from residents, and to maintain written records of payments.

8.2To take responsibility for petty cash whilst on shift, and hand over all cash plus related documents at the end of shift.

9.General

9.1If required, to attend training days, conferences and any other meetings as may be arranged by the Service Manager.

9.2To be involved with the Service team in the collation and preparation of reports, statistics on computer, and other papers, which may be required by the Area Director.

9.3To receive and show visitors round the Service.

9.4To adhere to all Depaul’s policies, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, child protection and protection of vulnerable adults and Confidentiality; to contribute to the effective implementation of Depaul’s Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both Depaul UK and its work with the residents.

9.5To deal with any other tasks commensurate with the needs of the Service.

9.6To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of Depaul UK

ROLE SPECIFICATION
