DEDICATION OF THE ROYAL GLOUCESTERSHIRE, BERKSHIRE AND WILTSHIRE REGIMENT AND ANTECEDENT REGIMENTS MEMORIAL AT THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL ARBORETUM

The dedication of the RGBW and antecedent Regiments Memorial will take place at The National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire in the presence of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron of The Regimental Association of The Rifles and RGBW, on 12 July 2012.

The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment and Antecedent Regiments Memorial. The Memorial has been made out of Portland stone, by Diana Lee-Browne. It is ten foot high and features the cap badges, each on a separate face, of The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, The Gloucestershire Regiment, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire), The Royal Berkshire Regiment and The Wiltshire Regiment.
Outline Programme and Timings.
NLT 1430 hours All individuals should be present at the RGBW and antecedent Regiments Memorial site for a short briefing. It should be noted that the site is at least 1/3 mile from the NMA car park and transit time (15 – 25 minutes) should be taken into account.
Those wishing to take photographs at the site should do so before the arrival of our Patron. Subsequent timings and the need to be present in the marquee to meet the Patron will not make it possible to remain in place for photographs following the Dedication Service.
1500 Hours. HRH, The Duke of Edinburgh arrives at the NMA.
1505 hours. Dedication Service to be followed by afternoon tea with musical support from The Rifles Band.
1630 hours + HRH The Duke of Edinburgh departs.
Cost. There will be no charge to attend the Dedication Service or Afternoon Tea. Individuals if travelling by car should expect to pay a £3 all day car park charge. Entrance in to the NMA is free.
Tickets . To comply with security requirements, tickets will be required for individuals attending the event. All applicants for tickets will be required to supply the following detail:
Full Name / Address / Date of birthTickets are available on application, supported by a self-addressed envelope from the Salisbury County Office. Alternatively individuals may apply for collection in person from the Salisbury and Gloucester County Offices or from local branches of the RGBW and Rifles Regimental Association. By exception and by arrangement only tickets may be requested to be collected on arrival at the NMA. Final applications for tickets must be received at the Salisbury County Office no later than 2 July 2012.
Dress. Suits or blazers with Regimental tie, medals and head dress (officers - bowler hats). Serving personnel should wear No 1 or No 2 Dress with medals (officers - no swords).
Mobility Assistance. The NMA will loan the use of at least two golf buggies and drivers to assist in the movement of those who require mobility assitance. In addition individuals may hire mobility scooters via the NMA, if notified in advance for £5.
