DESCRIPTION: Resounding Joy Semper Sound program is seeking an experienced andprofessional board-certified music therapist to join the clinical team.The Semper Sound Program is dedicated to understanding the impact of music and wellness of our military population and promoting enhanced utilization of identified best practices.

POSITION: Seeking dynamic music therapist who will have full professional responsibility for clinical and administrative work for the Semper Sound music therapy program. Clinical work is reviewed for adherence to professional standards and quality assurance reviews. Music Therapist will comply with policy and program requirements for professional standards and quality assurance reviews.

The Semper Sound Program is designed to increase exposure of service members and veterans to the benefits of Music Therapy and Recreational Music experiences addressing issues related to Traumatic Brain Injuries, PTSD, and related Psychological Health Issues in both clinical and wellness arenas.

DUTIES: Music therapist has responsibility to four military installations Resounding Joy serves:

·  Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD)

·  OASIS, Naval Base Point Loma

·  VA Aspire Center San Diego

·  Wounded Warrior Battalion West, Camp Pendleton (WWBW)

Music therapist will plan, organize, schedule, and facilitate goal-directed individual and group sessions to provide music therapy services to patients with various diagnoses that include but are not limited to: traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorder, psychological health issues, substance abuse, vision and/or hearing impairment, amputees/physical disfigurement, and chronic pain.

Music therapist will prepare and maintain records of music therapy assessments, treatment plans, client observations, progress reports, and program evaluation; participate in scheduled meetings, professional development, and intern supervision; communicate with all stakeholders (team, family, individual) in both written and verbal forms, and provide deliverables as required and/or requested by a treatment facility and/or Resounding Joy. Public speaking opportunities and community education and outreach events are available for participation.

The music therapist will direct and oversee community scheduling of the Semper Sound Band.

Semper Sound Band is comprised of clients from NMCSD, OASIS, and the WWBW. The band performson a monthly schedule at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and upon request for a variety of military and civilian functions. The therapist will train and schedule mentors from the active duty military bands that provide support to Semper Sound members.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED. Must possess a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in music therapy (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED). Music therapists must hold a valid and current board-certification credential (MT-BC).

·  Minimum of two years of clinical experience with adult populations

·  Experience providing music therapy services to clients with history of traumatic brain injury, PTSD, or combat trauma strongly preferred

·  Neurologic music therapy (NMT) specialized training preferred

·  Prior experience working with military population preferred

·  Strong skills in leading music improvisation interventions

·  Experience with songwriting, recording, and music production strongly preferred

·  Proficiency exceeding entry-level competencies of clinical musicianship on piano, guitar, voice, various percussion, and principal instrument

·  Personnel security investigation required

·  Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements
