Turn left onto University Parkway.

Drive 1.5 miles and turn left onto Southwest Avenue.

Southwest Avenue turns into J L Seehorn Jr. Road at the 4-way stop sign.

Continue straight at the 4-way stop sign.

Personal Biography

Steven T. Perri / Group Leader

Steve
/ Steve Perri is currently a group leader of the Process Chemistry Lab in Eastman Research division at Eastman Chemical Company. He was previously responsible for managing the technology development for one of Eastman's corporate growth projects and has held other leadership roles in the division. He graduated from California State University Fresno, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1984 followed by a Ph.D. from the UC Irvine in 1988 and a 2-yr post-doc at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Prior to being a group leader, he worked as a chemist in several groups in Eastman Research both as an individual contributor and project manager. Steve is an active hiker, member of the AT Committee Chair for the Eastman Hiking Club, past sponsorship chair for the Organic Reactions Catalysis Society, and past Chairman of the Board for Small Miracles Therapeutic Equestrian Center. He is married to Tisha and has no children.
Title: The Chemistry of Cyclic Vinylogous Acids and Esters
The chemistry of small ring vinylogous acids and esters has been an interesting area of research both at Eastman and in graduate school. This presentation describes some interesting chemistry of squaric acid and a biological route to ascorbic acid – aka Vitamin C.
