Location: Cary Academy Campus, 1500 N. Harrison Avenue, Cary, NC 27513
Camp Program: Summer Programs at Cary Academy is a culmination of over 250 specialized camps and programs that focus on the following program areas: science and technology, culinary and creative arts, visual and performing arts, sports and wellness, adventure and scholar studies. Full day and half day camps and programs are offered, Monday through Friday, for youth in rising grades 2 – 12. In addition, Summer Programs offers extended day programs in the morning, lunch and afternoon that provide additional opportunities for campers and participants to have fun.
Number of Campers: On average, Summer Programs programs run approximately 35 - 40 camps and programs per week with approximately 400 campers and participants onsite during the week.
Health and Safety Coordinator
Major Responsibilities:
- Collect and validate all immunizations forms for all program participants
- Collect epi pen forms in advance of camp each week, distribute and collect within camps each day
- Request allergy action plans for campers with medical needs
- Order first aid supplies, prepare first aid bags and distribute per camp
- Serve as first in line for administering first aid
- Prepare medical information for campers to distribute to instructors
- Make other reasonable accommodations as requested by parents in advance of summer
- Monitor heat index each day and make necessary changes to camp and program activities accordingly
- Assist with additional projects as assigned
Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate with some college or professional experience in emergency medical services, nursing, sports medicine or general medicine. CPR/AED/First Aid certification recommended (training provided, if necessary). Interested candidates should have an interest in working in a camp environment and have confidence in dealing with children as well as adults, ability to use good judgment and work with a team. Candidates must be organized, enthusiastic, flexible, responsible and have a positive, encouraging attitude.
Work Schedule:
This position is scheduled to work an average of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, June and July. Addition pre-camp preparation time is required up to four weeks before camp begins and post camp wrap up required for one week after camp ends.
