Based on the FSA data from 2016 we will need to increase our reading levels by 6% as measured by the 2017 FSA assessment. Math needs to improve by 9% to make these goals. These scores will get us to a C.
Science scores need to improve by 9%. We want to make the students have the science background from K – 4. We incorporated the STREAM program to our school to increase the science gains.
Ms. Leslie Campbell – Title One update
Guidance component – We work with the students’ emotional learning during our GRAB time.
Over 100 children were honored at our first Kid of Character nominees. They were given cookies, a dog tag necklace and certificate. These students were chosen by their teachers and exemplified the character trait for the month of September which is Cooperation. There were so many students chosen so you as parents should be so proud of them. “We love your children and we are devoted to not only educating them but to help them to become better citizens, the full package. “
Ms. Campbell spoke about the importance of communicating with parents and a strong partnership between the school and the home. Remember to take time to read with your children as well, the recommended time is 20 to 30 minutes per day. Please make sure to have at the minimum 2 conferences with your child’s teacher, if you cannot make it in person you may ask for a telephone conference. As well, we can provide a translator if necessary. Parents are encouraged to read and add to the School Improvement Plan – Parent involvement section. We value and need your input to complete this very important component.
