JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Community Fundraiser (CFR)

Reporting To:Community Fundraising Manager (CFM)

Role Purpose:To maximise income raised within their geographic area of responsibility and throughout the year.

To gain more supporters and increase the volunteer base offering a great and rewarding experience.

To engage with the public and supporters (including current and ex-service personnel and their families and members), supporting the delivery of the clear and consistent messages as to who the RBL are, what we do and how they can support, as defined by RBL Marketing and Fundraising

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Fundraising Strategy/County Plans;

Level 1

  • In consultation with the Community Fundraising Manager, develop and implement the Regional Fundraising Plan, to include PAO Support visits, seminars and launches etc;
  • Liaise with key Royal British Legion staff and officials within the defined area.

Level 2 (As above)

  • Develop and implement the Regional Fundraising Plan, defining the income, acquisition and engagement targets and the range and mix of year round activities that will best meet these.

Income and Expenditure budgets;

Level 1

  • With the CFM’s input and approval, produce and adhere to the income and expenditure budgets required to meet the Regional Fundraising Plan
  • Identify and develop Poppy Appeal Districts with potential to increase revenue and develop and implement the plans to maximise these opportunities

Level 2

  • Takes ownership of planning income/expenditure budgets and drives growth.

Volunteer Development;

Level 1

  • To assist with the recruitment and induction for new Poppy Appeal Organiser’s and volunteers, as well as on going support to those already in post;
  • Develop relationships with and support key local individual fundraisers, volunteers and key influencers.

Level 2 (As above)

  • Develop and support a portfolio of regional relationships across a range of individuals, groups, associations, to meet the income, acquisition and engagement targets.

Media

Level 1

  • To raise the charity profile through the effective use of local media and PR
  • To arrange a local launch event that attracts publicity that is consistent with the Poppy Appeal key messages, within the guidelines of The Regional Poppy Appeal Guidelines

Fundraising;

Level 2

  • Develop and implement a portfolio of regional events to meet the income, acquisition and engagement targets whilst ensuring an efficient and effective use of resources and working within the guidelines for an suitable return on investment;
  • Support the delivery of national fundraising events and initiatives

Corporate, Major Donors and Legacies;

Level 1

  • Promote fundraising through Legacies with materials available at seminars/newsletters.

Level 2

  • Recruit and train suitable volunteers to support Legacies, working with the national team where appropriate
  • Develop and support a portfolio of regional corporate partnerships to meet the income, acquisition and engagement targets, following the guidelines for working with 3rd parties and their use of our logo, whilst ensuring an efficient and effective use of resources and working with the national team where appropriate
  • Look for and develop major donor prospects, working with the national team where appropriate

NEW: Trading;

Level 2

  • Identify high footfall opportunities, working with National Trading/Area team to define appropriate trading solutions,i.e Product promotion on trestle table or Poppy Mobile Shop.

To undertake such tasks as may be required by the CFM that is consistent with the nature and grade for this post.

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES

1)The achievement of the income, acquisition and engagement targets as set out in the Regional Fundraising Plan

2)The development and delivery of a range of year round fundraising activities and initiatives that most effectively meet these targets.

3)The delivery of a great supporter experience through event evaluation and testimonials.
