The Charity Bowl - November & December

Crisis was formed in 1967, as an urgent response to the growing homelessness. Since then they have helped tens of thousands of people out of homelessness, and campaigned for change. On any given night in England, 26,000 single people are facing homelessness across thecountry. The charity’s new research shows that this group of homeless people are ending up trapped in a cycle of homelessness or stuck in temporary shelterfor months, or even years on end, as the social housing shortage and sky-high renting costs leave them with no place to call home. Unable to access social housing, private renting often becomes the only option available, but many landlords are reluctant to let properties to this group. Being homeless is not inevitable. With the right assistance single homeless people can successfully secure a home. This is a worthy cause particularly over Christmas and New Year. Our Charity Bowl will therefore be collecting donations during November and December for Crisis in this their fiftieth year. Chris Martin
