Learn to Swim Programme

Are you an inspirational and a highly motivated teacher looking for a new challenge in one of the South Ulster’slargest Learn to Swim Programmes?

Lisburn City Swimming Club is one of the top competitive Clubs in the Swim Ulster Region and Swim Ireland, with a strong representation at Regional and National level as well as having representation on International teams.

LCSC holds the Swim Ireland Clubmark Award. It has approximately 800 membersincluding Aquasprint, Regional, National and masters swimmers, learn to swim, disability, diving and water polo.

Approx. 600 children in the Learn to Swim Programme.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching young children basic swimming techniques.

Requirements:

1:Swim Ireland or similar Level 2 teaching Aquatics qualification or higher.

2:Current Swim Ireland Licence and evidence of regular CPD to maintain licence.

3:Be skills-focused with the ability to apply and share technicalknowledge.

4:Excellent time management, organisation, communication andadministration skills.

5:Able to work with and encourage swimmers at all levels ensuring that all athletes are given the opportunity to maximise their potential.

6:Able to motivate, lead and work well with a team.

7:Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for the needs of all involved with the Club.

8:Current Access NI clearance or equivalent and current Safeguarding Children qualification.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. To create a supportive environment in which participants may improve their skills and enjoy swimming.
  2. To work as part of a team and actively seek and provide positive feedback from and to colleagues.
  3. To arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the session and remain until the last participant has left poolside.
  4. To set up, care for and put away course equipment.
  5. To be responsibility for the Health and Safety of course participants.
  6. To be aware of the NOP and EAP at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.
  7. To be aware of any medical, psychological or special needs of the participants.
  8. To work with assistant teachers/volunteers giving guidance and advice
  9. To follow the appropriate schemes for the participants involved.
  10. To plan, monitor and evaluate all sessions, keeping a register of attendance and accurate records of participants’ progress.
  11. To be responsible for the continual assessment of the course participants. A completed assessment form is to be returned to the scheme manager by the penultimate week of the course.
  12. To attend one staff meeting per term at the LeisurePlex, to attend scheduled workshops and to actively seek to continue your own professional development, keeping abreast of current developments and techniques and attend relevant training.
  13. To positively promote the Swimming Performance Scheme to customers and colleagues.
  14. Be prepared to work evenings and weekends.
  15. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned.

Remuneration commensurate with experience and Swim Irelandteaching qualifications level attained.
