Salary: SJC scale £28,528 pt 32 – £32,485 pt 37 pro rata

Hours of work: 25 hours per week to be worked flexibly as the service requires.

Responsible to: The Co-ordinator reports to the Chairperson of the Management Committee and is accountable to the Management Committee

Place of work: St. Margaret’s House, 151 London Rd, Edinburgh EH7 6AE

Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave plus 10 days statutory holiday pro rata

Job summary

Link Up Women’s Support Centre is a women’s only project supporting women living with a mental health condition or illness and bridges the gap left in services between hospital admission and primary health care. LUWSC aims to provide a safe and caring environment in the community where women can meet with each other, share experiences, try new things, develop new skills, build confidence and gain support to live a hopeful and satisfying life even in the continuing presence of illness. The project is in line with community care and mental health policies which promote a community development co-production approach.

The Project Co-ordinator makes a key contribution to the delivery of the services of the Centre by being responsible for the strategic and day to day management of its resources and operations. The Project Co-ordinator will also take a lead role in navigating the charity through the upcoming Re-design and Commissioning of Mental Health and Wellbeing Services.

Key Objectives

1.  To provide effective management of the activities and staff of the Centre.

2.  To be responsible for the management of the premises.

3.  To take forward the organisations plans to deliver and develop accessible and successful services.

4.  To administer the governance arrangements for the organisation.

5.  To be responsible for the financial management of the organisation.

6.  To be responsible for the planning and development of the organisation’s funding streams including statutory, charitable trust and any other relevant sources.

1.  Management of activities and staff.

1.1  To develop and manage a range of activities that are responsive to members social, emotional , educational and creative needs.

1.2  To be responsible for the recruitment, induction, support, and supervision of all staff and volunteers.

1.3  To organise training, learning opportunities, and skills development for staff and volunteers.

1.4  To ensure that staff plan and deliver effective services for users, that facilitate them to have positive outcomes.

1.5  To ensure that staff and volunteers are aware of, and comply with current legislation, including Health & Safety, and that they provide an accessible service to women using or seeking to use the centre.

1.6  To participate with staff in client assessment and review.

2.  Management of the Premises.

2.1  To have responsibility for the day to day management of the premises occupied by Link Up Women’s Support Centre and of its equipment and fittings.

2.2  To ensure that staff and volunteers and visitors are operating in a safe environment when in the Centre, and that Health & Safety and Fire regulations are met.

2.3  To oversee the administration of the running of the premises including negotiating rental agreements with the landlord.

2.4  To oversee the IT and telephone communication requirements of the organisation.

3.  Service Planning.

3.1  To ensure that the Centre has a planned approach to delivering services that address the needs of current and potential users.

3.2  To liaise with staff in developing forward plans for service delivery.

3.3  To liaise with voluntary and statutory bodies operating in the area with respect to common interests in service provision, and participation in joint work.

3.4  To present the Management Committee with development plans for their consideration.

4.  Governance.

4.1  To ensure the smooth running of governance by organising the meetings of the Management committee, Executive committee and any sub groups set up by the Committee.

4.2  To provide information and guidance to the Management Committee that enables and supports their decision making.

4.3  To provide reports on activities to the Management Committee.

4.4  To ensure that the Management Committee meet the compliance and other responsibilities they hold under legislation and under the terms of funding awards.

4.5  To organise training for the Management Committee as the requirement emerges, and to provide induction for new members.

5.  Fundraising:

5.1  Identifying appropriate statutory, charitable trust and other sources of funding for the many varied areas of the Centre’s work.

5.2  Compiling and submitting the organisation’s fundraising applications and ensuring that funders’ requirements are met and adhered to.

5.3  Ensuring adequate funding is available for all work undertaken.

5.4  Supporting the Management Committee in raising funds and profile for the Centre through local community events and activities.

6.  Financial Management

6.1  In liaison with the Treasurer to be responsible for all aspects of financial planning, management and reporting.

6.2  In particular to deliver an annual budget, quarterly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.

6.3  To manage the Centre’s budget on a day to day basis, which includes regular monitoring of organisational income and expenditure.

6.4  To ensure that sound financial management practices and procedures are in place.

6.5  To ensure the provision of financial reports as required by funding bodies.

6.6  To be responsible for all income generation and fundraising, through grants, SLA’s, donations etc. planned by the Management Committee.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Hours of Work.

25 hours per week in line with the needs of the organisation. Some flexibility and occasional attendance at evening meetings or weekend events will be required. A time of in lieu (TOIL) system is in operation for overtime worked.

Salary

Current salary in line with the SJC scales 2015 -2017. Any alternative starting point would be dependent on experience and scale progression is dependent on measurable performance.

Annual Leave

Travel

Travel costs incurred on organisational business will be reimbursed at public transport rates. For mileage necessarily incurred in the course of your duties for the Centre using your own vehicle, you will be entitled to the Casual Users Mileage Allowance.
