Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary

The Human Resources generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Line of Authority: Reports to the Senior Director Human Resources

Essential Functions:

  1. Effectively provide day to day Human Resources services to customer/associates and develop and implement long term solutions to problems, needs and issues
  2. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists in the preparation and maintenance of the employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  3. Plan, manage and communicate special projects and programs such as employee recognition, wellness, benefits, recruiting, performance management and employee surveys as assigned.
  4. Performs administration of various employee benefit programs, such as group life, medical, dental, vision, accident and disability insurance, and 401(K), to include change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees and ensuring COBRA compliance.
  5. Keeps records of benefits plan participation such as insurance and 401(K) plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  6. Supports recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel; may write and place recruiting advertisements as needed; may assist in pre-employment screening activities; plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  7. Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially. i.e.: unemployment claims, employment verifications, I-9 status and State regulations.
  8. Files EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO and OSHA regulations.
  9. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  10. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  11. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years’ human resource experience that includes benefits administration. Prior human resources experience in a healthcare environment is desirable. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying. – PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·  Demonstrated knowledge of current HR laws/regulations and required practices. Strong understanding of the PPACA is highly desirable.

·  Excellent computer skills to include MS Office Suite and ADP or other payroll/HRIS/ATS systems

·  Excellent organization and time-management skills; with a proven ability to present and train groups

·  Professional presentation and interaction, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and information security in a highly sensitive environment

·  The ability to quickly establish trust, gain rapport and work effectively.

·  Strong attention to detail

·  Ability to study, analyze and interpret complex activities or information in order to improve known practices or develop new approaches.
