Job purpose

Human Resources lead on individual change management processes, employee relations case management and HR operations.

Lead an audit of HR records, documentation and HR database, working with HR and Payroll administrators to update records.

Dimension

Line manages Human Resources Administrator (0.4 FTE) and Payroll Administrator (0.7 FTE)

Principal responsibilities

1. Change Management

  • Provide Human Resources leadership on change management initiatives. Advise managers on changes and ensure changes are compliant with employment legislation and are properly managed and documented.

2. Human Resources records and documentation

  • Ensure HR has accurate and relevant information and documentation for all roles and employees and that organisational structures are accurately captured and communicated.

3. Employee Relations

  • Manage employee relations casework; advising and supporting managers on discipline, sickness and grievance issues to ensure cases are effectively resolved and that CIEH complies with relevant HR policy and employment legislation.

4. HR Operational Management

  • Ensuring vacancies are properly advertised and managers supported in the recruitment process as appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate inductions for new starters.
  • Acknowledging and processing leavers.
  • Managing HR processes regarding appraisal and objective setting.

5. Training

  • Undertake HR and People Management training / briefing as required.
  • Identify individual and group training needs and develop training and development plans.

6. Management

  • Manage, develop and appraise direct reports including setting and reviewing objectives.

Person Specification

The following are essential qualities in the post-holder:

Qualifications:

Essential:

•Associate or Chartered Membership of CIPD.

•Educated to degree standard or equivalent.

Experience/Skills:

Essential:

•Substantial experience of working as a HR generalist being responsible for the full range of HR operational activity.

  • Previous experience of successfully leading a change management exercise.

•Good understanding of legal and organisational requirements for HR documentation and records.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective

relationships with colleagues at all levels and service users.

•Ability to quickly earn respect and trust of managers across the organisation.

•Good problem solving skills and ability to develop approaches to successfully resolve issues taking account of a range of factors.

•Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

•Good report writing skills and be administratively self-servicing.

Desirable:

•Previous experience working in HR environment in a small/medium not-for-profit or public sector organisation

•Previous experience of working in a unionised environment.
